Ben Roethlisberger said he suspected the San Francisco 49ers targeted his sprained left ankle in a regular-season game last year, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback did not think the team participated in any foul play. Asked about the last time he felt an opposing team was trying to cause or exacerbate a specific injury, Roethlisberger brought up last season's 20-3 loss to the 49ers in Week 16. Roethlisberger threw three interceptions and fumbled twice in the game while playing with a high ankle sprain. "Um, wow, that's tough," Roethlisberger said on The Dan Patrick Show, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "I don't really complain about that stuff, either. But I think when we played San Fran, I felt like there were some things going on, some extra ... Now, obviously, I did have the ankle and I was playing, so there was kind of a bulls-eye on there anyway. But for the most part, guys play tough and you go into a game expecting it. I expect to be tougher than them." Source: NFL.com
The way he's been hit...there was a target on him every game. H0w about that hit he took a couple seasons that busted up his nose...lol.
Why would they not target his injured ankle. If big ben knows that a corner was injured the week before big ben is going to go after him. You always try to go after the injured 49ers n Lakers for life
theres a diffrence between throwing to a corners side cause hes hobbled and trying to take out a qb lol
Is this what football has come to? That is the name of the game. Everyone who plays hurts gets tested. He is so big he has to take so good shots to bring him down. If he don't like it don't play hurt or go down when the pressure gets there. Targeting injuries has been a part of pro football since day one and will continue till they put vaginas on the players.
Oh its ok for him to rape people but when he gets raped, woe is me. First off your dumbass shouldnt of been playing. Second, tell you oline step their game up. Aldon Smith beasted it
Not seeing where he came out to complain...he was asked a question and answered it. What should he have said? "No comment?" As for him playing in that game...not his fault, there is a coaching staff and an ownership that should've eliminated the fact that he was playing in that game to start with. Batch should have played that game and I'm sure he would've been targeted too...lol.
Sure he was asked a question but when he said..... The above statement should have never left his brain much less his mouth, if you "really" don't complain, then why the "But" and then the complaint?...dude is 6'5" suck it up ya cat...of course when you lose to a team that hasn't played well since 2002 I guess you need an excuse for the 20-3 loss...."the 49ers hurt my owie"....
precisely. citing a specific game and an exact scenario IS complaining and a snitch move. and he didn't have to say 'no comment' and completely avoid the question. he could have said, "i don't like to complain about stuff like that. we all know when a player is injured, the other team will take shots at that particular part of the body. it's just part of the game and you deal with it."
HOLY FREAKING CRAP THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAYING THIS. God I can't stand these little freaking nancy boys complaining that oh they targeted me, oh they hit me too hard. This is freaking football, it's a freaking man sport stop acting like a bunch of freaking snitches. I don't care if you have brain problems in the future and you have future health problems. You're getting paid MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars to play a freaking game!!! A FREAKING GAME!!!!! Step it up you freaking pussies and don't complain about being targeted and players being aggressive towards your ankle. Last time I checked this was an aggressive game.:icon_rolleyes:
this makes me wonder if you are goobered, or if you read the article at all and not the headline this could not be truer, he absolutely shouldnt have played he wont need to tell them this with DECASTRO <3 and hes just sick
lol right, a freaking nancy boy is clearly what he is. he may be a pr**k, he may be dumb, he actually does complain about a lot (hell i complain about a lot, not sure it makes me a "nancy boy") but roethlisberger is no cat but i dont really have to defend him, his on field play defends him....im sure he doesnt mind what you think about him while hes freaking his wife and probably half the girls in ohio and pittsburgh and cashing checks from his $100 million deal while playing a childs game for a living
"But this whole bounty thing -- I don't know if I'd sit there and and say, 'Wow, that guy really tried to end my career.' Honestly, I don't know."
with most of the "evidence" that has "come out" been mostly discredited I would like to see some concrete evidence that somehow a small amount of money(compared to what most of them make per game) will make them run faster or tackle harder. Do I believe there was a pay for performance pool going on? Sure do. As I expect it was in almost, if not every team. Did every defensive coordinator talk in such specific terms? Not everyone but I am sure quite a few did. They surely won't come out and say they did but I am sure they did. Back to Ben. He may complain some but not like a lot of others. But here his size works against him. He has to take big shots to bring him down and he stands tall in the pocket to deliver the shot downfield. He is going to take some shots but nothing like if he was a smaller qb. As far as being a cat, that does not enter my mind when describing him. But he can be a little snitch sometimes but he is cashing those huge paychecks so that covers up a lot of criticism.
