Brandon Marshall says getting traded to the Chicago Bears was all for the best. He said there was no point in the Miami Dolphins keeping him around with what he regards as an unattractive place for a receiver. The Dolphins drafted Ryan Tannehill with the eighth overall pick and also have veterans Matt Moore and David Garrard, but Marshall isn't impressed with their quarterback situation. “It doesn’t make any sense to pay a guy $2 million and only expect him to have 60 or 65 receptions, or 70 receptions in this new offense,†Marshall said in an interview with Orlando station 740 The Game, via ProFootballTalk. “And also, if you don’t have a quarterback, it doesn’t matter who you have out there. You can bring Jerry Rice back in his prime and he’s not going to be effective. So it makes sense on a business end, and also the fit just philosophy-wise, wasn’t there. I can understand the change, and honestly this is the best move that could have happened for both sides.†Source: Sporting News
Misleading IMO Honestly, it doesnt sound like he is "blaming" anyone. Basicly saying it makes sence to trade him because he wont be used much in there new offense. He's wrong about the Rice comment. "Effectiveness" isnt stats, its helping to win games. Rice may have only caught 60-70 pass's, but when they need those catchs, Rice would have came down with them
Nevermind the many dropped passes he had. Moore did pretty good in his time as a starter there, so it's not like he wasn't being fed.
well having Montana then Young as the QB is a lot better than who they have when Marshall was there, so I kinda agree with Brandon.
I like Matt Moore for some reason. He was rushed into playing on a bad team in Carolina. Plus the Phins were a mess last year for most of the season. He reminds me of Jason Campbell as being in wrong place wrong time.
I was about to say the exact samething. Marshall had Chad Henne, Matt Moore, Tyler Thigpen. Am I missing anyone else?
I'm kind of glad the Bears signed him but I'm just a bit leery that he's going to pull his "Receiver Diva" tantrums if he's not getting enough looks. As it stands Earl Bennett is Cutler's #1 option because of their time at Vanderbilt (although it was only 1 season) but is Marshall going to shut down and be all pissy if he's not getting looks? Cutler and Marshall had success together in Denver but this isn't Denver. I'll have my fingers crossed it works out for the best.
yes, you are correct. marshall is unfortunately in the mold of Moss/Ocho/T.O. and is a majorly self-absorbed diva. he is extremely talented but it takes almost the perfect environment for them not to cause problems. we will see if the bears can create that perfect environment. their best chance for 'no problems' is probably in his first year so they will hopefully get a lot of production from him this year with little or no problems.
I understand/agree with the general message of what he's saying, but the means in which he went about and delivered it was kind of off base. The guy's right though.
