Terrell Suggs partially tore his right Achilles' tendon a little over a month ago with initial reports ascribing it as a basketball injury though the Baltimore Ravens star quickly said he was injured during a conditioning test, however witnesses are now saying the original story was likely true. "He got hurt Sunday prior to the championship game," Herman (Sonny) Hoffman, director of the Akchin Gymnasium in Maricopa, Ariz., which was staging a basketball tournament April 29 tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. "My staff saw the whole incident. It was the condition you'd describe for a torn Achilles'. He had no movement, no step, and it swelled up right away." Hoffman says members of his staff also have little doubt Suggs was hurt in the game, which he was forced to leave though he declined medical attention. Suggs issued this statement to ESPN through his agent: "Simply not true. I hurt myself doing my conditioning test." Why is this an issue? Many players are barred from playing hoops in their contracts and can forfeit pay if they miss time due to an injury caused on the court. However the Ravens seem unlikely to dock Suggs' salary.
