Not much of a basketball fan anymore since getting out of prison. Nothing but basketball is on the tv there. Got burned out. watched tonight's game against Brasil. Explain to me how come Carmelo Anthony is on the team? He was cold this game, along with most of the rest of the team but he was also jacking up shots like crazy last game also and missing a lot of baskets that game also. Never been impressed with him. Seems like he is a product of the hype that goes with the NBA. We will be in trouble when we meet up with teams with legit big men. We have no inside presence. Sure, we can dunk with the best of them but no one with consistent low post abilities. Showed tonight that if the jump shots don't fall then we are in trouble. That part of the game is seriously lacking. Can't wait to hear Skippy downgrade Westbrook today on First Take. Dude is a stealing machine. Skippy never gives him any credit but he is a beast.
1- the idea that this team could even sniff the left nuts of the '92 team is beyond laughable. yeah i could these dopes going low against ewing, robinson, malone and barkley. 2- skip bayless needs to contract aids
if they don't get an inside game they won't win. what got me was the physical play the refs allowed. the USA players didn't like it. Not used to it. That may also be a problem later on.
not used to it ? the US game is much more physical than the international game. sounds more like they didnt appreciate getting a taste of their own medicine. this is a team of individuals. the '92 squad was a group of individuals that came together as a team.
I will take your word on the international play. I was just going off what the commentators were saying about the refs allowing more physical play in that league. I saw several non calls that would have been tooted in a minute in the NBA.
Since the NBA decided that promoting the individuals (MJ) as opposed to the rivalries was where the big money was. We'll always be in trouble due to disjointed talent with no team mentality/cohesiveness that includes sacrifice. Watch the Dream team Documentary for the glaring truth...
I am glad I am not the only one who feels that way. I miss the old days, not that old, of more teamwork and less one on one.
It wouldn't be the first time the USA failed to win the gold with pro players. The international teams aren't scared of the USA anymore, that ended around 2000 or so I believe. The 2000 USA team won the gold but faced some really tight games. Then the 2004 team was a hot mess along with losing some other international tournament around that same timeframe...2008 we finally got the gold back but I'd say it isn't guaranteed anymore.
that's because narcissim has replaced team and future green has replaced gold on the priority list. great job stern. you're so quick to lay into players that bring bad PR to the game but you refuse to admit that you're part of the problem.
I still think were gonna win the gold we have way more talent then the international teams the games might be a little bit closer without a inside game but when you have lebron KD and kobe on the same team come on now.
But if the outside shots don't drop we are hecked. From what I have seen so far, we have to run the other team out the building. Transition basketball may be the answer but injuries can happen that way.
Speaking of an inside game, do any of these international teams really have any kind of post game? Yeah I mean Spain has Gasol but he isn't what I'd call a dominating inside force at this point in his career. The traditional, dominant big man is kind of rare in the sport across the world now. Heck the 2004 team that failed did have Tim Duncan in the post and it did not matter.
