Lawmakers in Fulton County, Ga., want to rename a street in honor of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, some residents say Newton isn't worthy. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday that residents cited the need to change personal records, to Newton's age (23) and to allegations that Newton's father, Cecil, tried to sell his son's services to Mississippi State a couple years ago. Under the plan, Scarborough Road in South Fulton would become Cam Newton Drive, members of Newton's family are among its residents, the AJC reports. South Fulton Commissioner Bill Edwards defended the idea. He told the AJC that Newton is a local product who "beat the odds." Edwards also said the street name would stay the same if residents oppose the change, a public hearing was held Tuesday. Source: Sporting News
John F Kennedy blvd, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and Cam Newton ave... Sounds right to me. :icon_rolleyes:
This is ridiculous, at least wait until the guy has a body of work. Imagine if they did this for Michael Vick after his rookie season.
Still no SB Ring. Wait until he has a bad season and they tear him apart. It'll be because he's black, too.
