Before last year’s team finished a disappointing 8-8, the Philadelphia Eagles were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Nothing has changed those high expectations going into the 2012 season as quarterback Michael Vick even had loftier expectations for his team. “When I look at our football team and what we have on paper, I think about when I was growing up and the great San Francisco 49er teams, the great Green Bay Packer teams, and the great Dallas Cowboy teams, how they just positioned themselves to compete and be one of the best teams out there,†Vick said to Comcast SportsNet Philly. “I think we have a chance to be that. I think we have a chance to develop a dynasty.†Since signing with the Eagles in 2009, Vick is 15-9 as a starter with 40 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Vick completed 59.8 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns and 14 picks last season. “We’re in a special place right now,†Vick said. †We believe that we have a lot to accomplish, and we believe we can do it. and I think that’s where it all starts, with your faith.†Source: Sports Illustrated
This comment is almost as stupid as the "Dream Team" one.... How about you make the playoffs before you start talking dynasty. I guess someone had to take over for Vince Young and Rex Ryan not overdoing it this year.
He's right though. On paper this team should be in the Super Bowl right now. They have a TON of young, dangerous talent on both sides of the ball and could walk through the NFC(at least east) but talent and what's on paper doesn't mean crap. I don't think it's as stupid as the Dream Team thing but he talks about potential, not a stupid butt comment. And honestly as an Eagles fan I'm glad they have a swagger to them. As much as I loved Donovan and the Eagles of the early 90's they were boring. 5 smiling and having fun is one thing but the team saying out loud that they have that potential is refreshing.
Doesn't mean CRAP. He needs to dodge questions like this. Talking about a dynasty when they didn't even make the playoffs last season let alone win a Super Bowl is just asking for criticism.
its my worst nightmare in sports but its not that out of this world....people are like too offended by this kind of crap
Its hard enough to win the SB. Much less become a dynasty these days. There's nothing wrong with having confidence, but just go back it up. Win games. Make the playoffs.
With the way free agency and the salary cap is in today's NFL, I think it's safe to say that the dynasty days are over.
Um, Patriots? A decade straight of legit SB caliber teams, 3 rings and 5 SB appearances. That, I believe, qualifies as a dynasty.
