At this stage in his career, Vikings defensive end Jared Allen isn't looking to tango on a daily basis with someone looking to show off. He made that very clear a couple weeks ago during an appearance on NBC SportsTalk. "Just don't touch me," Allen said. "I'm too old to deal with overzealous rookies right now. Keep your hands out of my face, don't grab my jersey, and we won't have to fist fight." It appears Matt Kalil missed that interview. Per a tweet Tuesday from Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com, the rookie left tackle "stonewalled" Allen on consecutive plays during practice, which incited the rage of Allen, who cursed loudly. This is good news for the Vikings if Kalil is able to hold his own against an All-Pro fresh off a 22-sack season. Minnesota invested its No. 4 overall pick in Kalil, hoping it has found the long-term cornerstone of its offensive line and blind side protection to quarterback Christian Ponder. Source: USAToday
the mangina meter is off the charts on this one. wow. the coaches shouls've made allen carry kalil's stuff around for the rest of the week. cat
What a pansy. " Don't touch me! I'm too old for this " .. Then hang up you cleats. Its a contact sport. You think he's gonna let you blow by him and hit his offensive teammates? Good job for Kalil.
LOL Allen is so mad. It's bullcrap. On the one hand I understand what he means- it's quite possible since it was practice Allen wasn't going full game speed and Kalil was and that angered Allen.
In case Kalil didn't know... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI]Iverson Practice! - YouTube[/ame] Chill, n00b! Chill! We talkin' bout practice! That's it!
Article is kind of reaching, bringing up couple week old quote about over-zealous rookies, when he was almost certainly joking about that. Its not like he made that comment after Kalil stone walled him. Here's the tweet that this article is based upon.
:icon_thumright: 'Back in the day', it was called reporting the news. If there was nothing to report, nothing was. Just called it a slow news day. Remember days that the sports section was shorter than the obits. Nowadays it's called 'making the news' with the extra effort put into creating story lines. :icon_rolleyes:
Still, I love offensive linemen that have that nasty streak. Kalil should have put his arm around him and pat his head saying If I can do this to you, think about what I am going to do to the opposing teams' defense. Or give him a case of Just for Men/
really allen should be giving kalil everything hes got, its got to be encouraging to not just destroy your own teams left tackle
