Jets Should Cut QB Tim Tebow According To Retired NFL QB Boomer Esiason

Tim Tebow won't be able to count Boomer Esiason among his legion of fans. The retired quarterback and NFL analyst said on his morning radio show on WFAN with co-host Craig Carton in New York, "I’m just telling you right now, I would (cut him), and I’ll tell you why I would. It’s not in any way, shape or form — I think — benefiting this team.†Esiason called the trade for Tebow a "major mistake" and indicated that his presence only hinders current starter Mark Sanchez by creating a quarterback controversy, not to mention the circus atmosphere that surrounds the Jets camp in large part because of Tebow's popularity. Esiason doesn't think Tebow is effective enough as a passer to even make a Wildcat package work successfully. “All you have to do is watch him throw the ball,†said Esiason. “Just watch him.â€

I don't think Tebow should be with the Jets. I think he should be with someone that can develop him as a passer.

McElroy and Tebow as teammates. I wonder if Greg gives him grief about crying on National TV following the SEC Championship in 2009

  7. since McElroy hasn't done crap in the NFL and Tebow has let's hope not.

McElroy hasn't been given the opportunity to do anything. Not exactly a fair comparison.

  10. He won multiple games, including a playoff game.

  11. He hasn't earned it. Plus he was hurt all of last yr.

Tebow didn't win the Broncos won in spite of him.

  13. Old tired excuse. U seriously think if he doesn't make that pass vs Steelers they win? I could find other examples but we will start there

You really think a healthy Ben doesn't win right off the bat?

  15. We aren't talking about Ben. Discussion on Tebow has nothing to do with Ben.

tebow may not be a great passer but hes still a weapon. He can line up as a full back running back and as a qb so many trick play options.

That's the fallacy, that Tebow won those games. The Broncos, especially their D...along with specific plays by Tebow/gotta give him props for those... won those games.

What are Jets waiting for? A chance for Sanchez to stumble so Tebow can start, have over 3 1/2 quarters of futility, & hope the D allows a last minute Tebow drive ala Elway?

Not a back up plan I'd endorse...

  19. Again- cut and dry was Tebow involved or wasn't he?

To me Jets view Tebow as a wildcat/goal line/backup QB who will be the starter if Sanchez screws up.

You want cut and dry? The Broncos won as a team.
