The Detroit Lions' defense tied for 10th in the NFL last season with 41 sacks, nine behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. The year before, the Lions' 44 sacks ranked sixth, just four behind the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, if the Lions do not lead the NFL in that category this season, they're underachieving.

"If we're not the most dominant defensive line in the league, I feel like we're not doing our job," Vanden Bosch said, via Justin Rogers of MLive.com. "I feel like we have the people, I feel like we have the weapons, so if we're not doing it, we're underachieving."

Nah, the Eagles should rack up even more sacks than last year with their added depth.

What I love is the depth on the d-line in Philly. The LB's have to bring the thump behind them this year.

SRW... dude.. Philly will be mediocre again this year. Remember when Washington pretty much tried to buy the "best" defense? How did that work out? ie Philly.. I think Philly will show signs of brilliance at times, but they wont do a whole lot when it counts. my .02

There is no denying that the Eagles are deep with talent along the defensive line. However they put it together is one thing, the fact that it's talent that lines up for them on Sunday is my point. Now, they still have to go out there and get it done. Problem is with those LB's so weak, they won't be able to put themselves in as many situations to just pin their ears back and go after it as they could have. Still, if we are talking stats and sack numbers then I feel the Eagles have as good a shot at finishing the season tops in that stat.

Lose Juan Castillo and then the Eagles can talk.

Does he mean that they should be leading the league in getting sacks or giving up sacks? Not sure.
