A day after declining to answer whether he owned a dog, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick confirmed in a statement that his family recently got a dog. “I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet,†Vick said in a statement released by his publicist. “As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. “I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.†Questions about Vick owning a dog were spurred recently when a home photo showing an open box of Milkbone dog biscuits on Vick’s table was tweeted from his Twitter account and seen on CrossingBroad.com. exactly. the guy did his time in prison. he has paid his debt. he's obviously 'trying' to live his life the right way. the story is dead. the media is just still trying to make something of it.
I'm sure there are people who have been involved in dog fighting and at the same time also had a pet dog which they cared for properly.
However you feel about Vick and dogs, theres zero reason his daughter of all people should have to suffer for the sins of her father. Having a dog can be a special thing and a good life lesson for kids, and it would be asinine to deny that to a child over something she had no role in at all. Was she even born yet when all that went down? Whats it been, 6 years now? 7? The guy is clearly on a different path now, let him live his life and quit bringing up a past that is left behind.
