Eagles Fire Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo, Promote Todd Bowles

The defense was garbage. Castillo needed to go. Scapegoat move, maybe but it's something. Like Spadaro said on Eagles Live, Reid just started with the defense and hasn't even gotten to the offense. There's a long week before business resumes in Philly. Give it some time.

And FWIW the offense is 11th in total offense with 379 YPG and has totals over 30 minutes with the ball. If Vick doesn't make all those turnovers this team is 4-2 or 5-1. Marty is calling the right plays but the QB isn't making the right reads. Nick Foles would at least understand the progression and not hold the ball for 5-8 seconds each time. The offense is doing what it needs to do(minus scoring and all Vicks turnovers) and the defense was underachieving. Nothing saying Todd Bowles is the saving grace either.

please stop drinking the marty kool aid. marty blows donkey rod. the oline sucks and he continues to call long pass plays. he along with vick and reid are all equally responsible for that mess.

point is the defense was the least of this team's issues.

also - how the heck do you claim foles is a "damn good qb" - how the hell do you know that from pre-season games ? you don't. you hope he can turn into one and there is promise but to call him a damn good qb after a couple of pre-season games is nuts.

He's played against the Pac 12 and tore it up in college. The Pac 12 honestly is like playing in the NFL in terms of how their defenses are fun. I think when people say that he's a "damn good qb" they're talking about everything he's shown pre-NFL. The kid has the stuff this is fact. If he can be successful in the NFL has yet to be seen but as far as being a QB at this point, he's pretty good.

I don't think it's a conspiracy at all that it came from above and like I said earlier, I think that unless the Eagles make a Super Bowl appearance, Reid is done in Philly.

"Hey Juan! How would you like to be defensive coordinator?"

"Umm...you realize I'm the offensive line coach"

"You'll get a one million dollar raise"

    "Im in..."

    Wait... what???

The defense is the only damn reason we have 3 wins. The d-line is severely underperforming, but aside from that they are killing it.

One bad quarter of prevent defense and all of a sudden they are garbage?

Bowles was the Cowboys secondary coach from 2005-2007. Interesting.

ok i gotcha ... i can def agree with that. i'm just careful not to get too hung up on his play so far in the nfl. although i certainly like what i have seen so far.

i think part of my gripe of foles going in is the chance that he will do good enough to keep reid's job here and then we get 10 more years of frustrations and shortfalls. :banghead:
