Ben Roethlisberger accomplished a first in his career Sunday against the Redskins. It's the only time he has thrown three touchdown passes in a game while getting neither sacked nor intercepted. It was the ninth game in his NFL career in which he was neither sacked nor intercepted, and the second time this season. The other game was a win against the Philadelphia Eagles. During the previous three seasons, it happened only once, at Cleveland in the 2010 finale. Roethlisberger's 13 sacks put him on pace to have the fewest since he was sacked a career-low 23 times in '05 while playing in just 12 games. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
this. oline got pummeled against philly and everyone else in the preseason, haley has made very noticeable adjustments in blocking assignments. playcalling has been good too, efficient and short but i think things down field are going to start to come together soon. but the use of heath miller as been incredible, something neither whisenhunt or arians were ever able to do was use miller in the way everyone wanted to see. Haley was never even a TE guy, never was in AZ and really wasnt in KC (moeki was when haley gave up the playcalling in KC)...but all of the sudden miller is on pace for career highs across the board...including on pace for 14-15 TDs, haley just uses guys better already than arians ever did
Ever did. Not only is Ben less in touched, like you said K, the blocking schemes are better. The usage of Heath Miller is something the fans have asked for for years!!! I'm loving it! One of the things I find funny us that the Ariand supporters are asking now what the Haley supporters think of the continued use of the bubble screens...yet they fail to see that not only are Haley's bubble screens setting up for something bigger, but they are set up better as far as design goes. Set up better as far as blocking schemes go. Set up better as far as personnel goes. Last week the fake bubble screen led to a huge gain by Miller. It's a way more efficient offense with Haley there...
