Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who has excelled at shutting down receivers this season, thinks his 3-5 New York Jets will finish the second half of the season strong and still make the playoffs. Cromartie, appearing on NFL Network's NFL AM morning program Thursday, made his not quite Joe Namath-like guarantee. "The Jets will make the playoffs this year,†Cromartie said. "We believe in each other, we believe in what Coach [Rex] Ryan and his staff is putting us to schemes and stuff, so we’re definitely going to make the playoffs this year." New York is down, but not mathematically out. It also doesn't have much margin for error to make such a run. The first big obstacle is a tough cross-country road game at Seattle in Week 10, where the Seahawks are battling for an NFC wild-card spot. Source: Sporting News
How about just beat Seattle Sunday? Which BTW, I think they could catch Seattle in a "trap" situation...
excellent work. exactly. seattle could get caught napping. here's the deal about the jets. they actually 'could' make a strong run here if they can get their crap together even just a little bit. they have a had a pretty tough schedule thus far. including this seahawks game, they have only played 3 games all year against teams that are currently .500 or worse. They went 2-1 in those games. 6 of their last 7 games are against teams that are currently .500 or worse. they may have dug themselves too big of a hole at this point but out of all of the 3-win AFC teams, the jets definitely have the best shot to make a run here. the best scenario we could wish for is for the jets to pile up some wins at the end of the year and finish 8-8 or 9-7, just miss the playoffs, but have won enough to keep rex around for another year. :)
