Cowboys LB Jerry Brown Dead, NT Josh Brent Arrested For Intoxicated Manslaughter

Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was arrested early Saturday morning for intoxication manslaughter after a one-vehicle accident that killed teammate Jerry Brown.

Brent, a three-year veteran, was booked in the Irving, Texas city jail at 4:14 a.m. Saturday morning.

Brown, 25, was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad earlier this season. He was also Brent's college teammate at Illinois.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. "At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."

In June 2009, Brent was sentenced to two years probation and 60 days in jail as part of a plea agreement stemming from a drunken driving arrest in Champaign County, Illinois.

Damn. When will these players learn not to drive after drinking? It's not like they can't afford a taxi.

not only jocks who do stupid crap like this,movie stars,rock stars,rich people,when are they ever gonna learn to just call a taxi or get a limo? it saves lives and nobody gets hurt!

 

Just people in general, just because we all can afford a taxi doesn't mean we are using one.

 

Why? It's because the majority of people who drive drunk feel that they are ten feet tall and bulletproof. They think that nothing bad will happen to them.

 

They should have their sober ride home prepared before they party.

 

That's too simple for them to understand. After all, what could happen? Right?

True. Plus I do think that athletes are so used to getting their asses kissed throughout their lives, that many develop a 'God complex'. The smart ones learn from situations such as this.

 

Ndamukong Suh will stab Evan Dietrich Smith in the neck during their game tomorrow and Smith will bleed out in the middle of Lambeau Field with millions of people watching................

Suh will get suspended for 4 games.

 

Brent deserves jail time, a very long sentence

 

this incident may finally make the players' union cave and accept suspensions for DUI's......... they've been fighting it all along
