Krappernuts is pretty funny. I like the guy though. Most of the time, Harbs makes good decisions. It took me a while to figure out what he was doing here, but it makes sense. Get Kaep in there to get him experience before playoff time comes. He's done mostly well. Only thing that bothers me is that Gore's production has slipped quite a bit since the change. His ypc are down quite a bit, and LaMichael isn't as good as Hunter yet. I'm sure they'll figure it out though.
Well James is a rookie, and since Hunter is on IR it is what it is...Gore's numbers were destined to slip a bit because unlike Alex, Colin can and does throw downfield unafraid...Gore's number went from 5.38 to 4.01.
That ability to throw down field is the puzzling part to me. It should bring a man out of the box, freeing up space for Gore to operate. So in my limited thought, his ypc shouldn't have gone down or at least not to the extreme that it has. 4 ypc is slightly above average, 5.38 is almost best in league. And Hunter was above 5 ypc as well, so there was barely any drop off when he came in the game. But like you said, at this point, it is what it is.
Remember when one of the lineman said that Alex was like a general out there and making sure everyone was lined up correctly and made sure to get them into the right play. Maybe part of the reason that rushing numbers is up is because Alex would read the defense and choose the correct rushing call to get the most yardage out of it? Nah that couldnt be it Alex could never do anything like that hes too inept..........Right?
Oh and Sweets on passes where the ball is in the air for 21+ yards Alex is 8/17 273 yards 3 Tds 1 INT and Colin is 8/17 270 yards 3 Tds 1 Int and I think the difference in pass attempts between Alex and Colin is only like 20 so it is not like we are throwing downfield a hell of a lot more.
where did you get those stats? those are interesting. i know YPC difference between the 2 is pretty drastic. colin is near the top of the league and alex was average or below average.
Alex Smith Stats, Splits - San Francisco 49ers - ESPN Colin Kaepernick Stats, Splits - San Francisco 49ers - ESPN Theres the splits and towards the bottom it gives a breakdown of passes and how far they travel and the stats associated with it. Colin averages 6.8 yards per rush and Alex averages 4.6 yards per rush Alex has 27 more attempts than Colin and 192 more passing yards and 5 more Passing TDs than Colin Alex was completing 70% of his passes at 7.98 YPA and Colin is completing 63.2% of his passes at 8.1 YPA Alex has 3 fumbles on the year and Colin has 9.
