Andy Reid has been fired after 14 seasons coaching the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles made the announcement Monday. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie says, ''it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction.'' Reid is due to make $6 million in 2013 in the final year of his contract, he is the franchise leader in wins (140) and winning percentage (.578) and led the Eagles to six division titles and five NFC championship games, he led them to the Super Bowl in 2004. Lurie put Reid on notice after last season's 8-8 record, the Eagles slumped to 4-12 this season forcing Lurie to make the move. Lurie calls Reid, ''someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come.'' Reid inherited a 3-13 team in 1999, drafted Donovan McNabb with the No. 2 overall pick in that year's draft, and quickly turned the franchise into a title contender. Source: Associated Press
In that press conference, Reid showed more energy and enthusiasm than any other in his 14 year or whatever it was career. Kind of funny. Did he get to say the time is yours?

It's about time!!!!! The Eagles aren't even my team, but I'm pretty much am forced to watch them because they're the local team and I'm just SO sick and tired of listening to that grouchy Big Red utter "we need to do a better job" week after week, year after year and seeing it never happen. The odd thing is, I didn't even want him to do a better job and yet, I was somehow frustrated that he didn't, in fact, do a better job. It's been a personal conundrum. :icon_lol:
I don't care what anyone says, I for one am sad to see him go. I understand it's time to move on and am okay with that but he took this team from relative obscurity to basically being a contender every single year. I don't think he should've been canned after last season for the exact season Lurie said. When he had a bad season he's always followed it up with a great one. This year I think life finally caught up with coach. He lost one of his biggest confidants and best friends in Jim Johnson and just went downhill from there unfortunately. I'm sure that he'll land on his feet somewhere and will be back to dominating the league in no time. I just hope it's in the AFC.
