Jerry Jones is still seething over a second straight 8-8 season in Dallas that leaves the Cowboys on the outside looking in at the NFC playoffs.

The Cowboys' owner and general manager spoke with Jasmine Sadry of KRLD-FM on Wednesday and promised an offseason of change after Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins cost the Cowboys a division title.

"I'm very disappointed. I thought we missed a great opportunity (to win Sunday)," Jones said. "... I can assure fans that it's going to be very uncomfortable for the next couple of weeks and months at Valley Ranch."

Added Jones: "Change is necessary at 8-8. A change will happen."

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said this week he doesn't plan to give up play-calling duties, but multiple reports suggest the Cowboys will hire an involved offensive coordinator, and Jones left little doubt.

"Do you think I'm nuts?!" Jones said, when asked if Garrett would dial up plays in 2013, according to Sadry's Twitter feed.

I think he is talking about a playcaller on offense. It was reported that they were looking at people, and then Garrett came out and said "No, I'm calling plays".

This is.mostly likley Jones overruling him, and if it is I'm In Jerrys corner

If that truly is the case. Then Garrett should be fired. If Garrett cant see there is a problem then he wont see problems in the team. And then wont be able to make corrections.

This is just Jerry trying to appease an angry fan base. What can he do, realistically?

Whatever he wants, isn't he the owner, and GM?

That's right. However, there's a limit as to what he can do. I didn't get to finish my train of thought. What can he do?:

    New owner? No.
    New GM? No.
New DC? I would say no. I think Ryan did a good job in getting what he got from a defense that was gutted by injuries.
New OC? Maybe. I would be on board for this, but I'm not sure Norv Turner is the answer. I would like someone new. Not someone who's been here before.
New HC. No. JJ's already said he's sticking with Garrett. I think JJ's afraid that Garrett will catch fire somewhere if he lets JG go, kind of like what happened with Belichick after he left the Browns.

Yeah I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that almost every team in the NFC east was gutted by key injuries to a lot of their players whether it was in the preseason or early in the season. I'd watch out for the NFC east if they can maintain healthy teams, it's always a battle for that division crown.

IMO all things point to an OC. Garrett doesn't want one, Jones does

Anything with Ryan would be ridiculous IMO. Despite the stat Ryan has been a huge assert this year. He litterally lost the entire middle of his defense twice over and his best player was gimpy half the season

In terms of bring an OC in that would be what is best for the team yes Jason Garrett is awesome and is a brilliant offensive mind but being the HC and the OC is simply just too much. That being said, don't bring an OC I would greatly appreciate that.

I Still don't see dallas ever winning a super bowl as long as jerry is the gm! He should bring in bill polian as an assistant to the gm.

Depends on who it is. As I've said before, I don't want Norv. Look at SD's stats for the reasons.

That's meaningless. You can't compare performance as an OC/DC to performance as a HC. Apple's to Oranges. HC's responsibilties that hinder them in the playcalling aspect. It's not there job, they have a team to manage. Very few HC's that call plays are successful

You can't base someone's merit as a coordinator by their performance as a HC. Look at Norvs brother Wade Phillips

In Rick Gosselin's column in today's DMN, titled "Cowboys owe fans something special", his last two sentences of his column say it all. 'Spare the talk. Let's see some action."

    Amen.
