The Eagles interviewed Brian Billick on Monday and consider the former Ravens coach one of the leading candidates, according to Reuben Frank of CSN Philly.

Billick, currently an analyst for Fox, has been out of the game since 2007. The 58-year-old compiled a record of 80-64 in nine seasons as head coach of the Ravens, which included a Super Bowl championship in 2000.

The Ravens made it back to the playoffs three more times under Billick but never got past the divisional round and was replaced by John Harbaugh following a 5-11 season in ’07.

Billick served as offensive coordinator of the Vikings from 1994-98. While offense was his specialty, it was the Baltimore defense that carried the team during much of his tenure.

In other news [every available coach in the NFL and NCAA] is also a leading candidate for the Eagles head coaching position.

Andy Reid has grown COMPLETELY stale in this city. He had a top 5 RB he didn't use. He's never liked the run game. He's drafted like garbage and made HORRIBLE personnel changes the last few years.

Brian Billick is a student of the game and has spent the last few years watching hundreds of games and being an analyst he's had the ability to learn some new things, see things, etc. And he was a pretty good coach in Baltimore. Amazing? No. Good, yeah. Not saying I want him as the Head Coach(wouldn't be too upset as long as we had a decent DC) but it's better getting a guy who's had success than a complete unknown(Bradley, McCoy, Kelly's.) I don't think Andy Reid should've stayed in Philly under ANY circumstances. The man wore out his welcome, end of story.

And FYI, Lurie isn't hiring to lose. It'll be better when the Skins are back at the bottom of the NFC East next year and the Eagles are back in contention, the Cowboys will still be awful and the Giants will either show up or be completely awful

. I think this should have been the most attractive job out there as it really shouldn't need too much work to turn this team into a contender.

You keep telling yourself that is you need it to sleep, but all the praying and hoping ain't putting any trophies in that EMPTY eagles trophy case set aside for the lombardi trophy! And if it is the best job in the nfl,why are people not flocking to it ?
eagles have had a good front office the last few years, but it was'nt jack crap this season!!

I said it SHOULD be the most desirable job in the NFL. Compared to the Browns, Chiefs, etc, this team is the most poised to win now.

And please, PLEASE stop with the whole Super Bowl trophy case thing. It's been over 20 years since they won the Super Bowl. Giants fans can talk crap about that but seriously, win one in the last decade before you talk crap.

Billick is a QB guru that developed ......... Yeah good idea getting him because he can with with a great defense he had nothing to do with.

When Reid was in charge of all drafting, true. However, they have found a few gems lately. It's amazing what happened when Reid stopped being THE GUY.

Fact is, Billick has a ring on his hand. Which is more than anyone who has ever coached for the Eagles has.

He gets credibility from the get go, whether you like him or not. He was número uno for a team that went all the way.

I don't like him all that much, but i wouldn't hate the signing. Could do a LOT worse.
