Well let's not go putting him on that pedestal just yet. Alex Smith went bananas last year against the Saints only to crap the bed vs the Giants the following week. Kaep's a made man now, but if he wants to take the next step he's going to have to be great every week in the playoffs.
Oh I'm not putting him on any pedestal yet. Just saying he's got a very bright future if he can continue to progress as he has been. Even if he does crap the bed next week, or the game after that, he's had a hellofa season and I feel really good about having him under center moving forward. Hopefully the best is yet to come.
Hey you never know what will happen in the future. He's on the saddle here and no, and he gets no 'off days' anymore. It's put up or shut up time. So far he's putting up. If he pulls a dud like he did in Seattle then it'll be another NFC title loss footnote for this team.
LOL thanks. nope, just my assessment that turned out wrong for that game, oh well. :icon_redface: I still believe his inexperience will cause a costly mistake at a crucial moment for the team. I am not betting on San Fran to win A Super Bowl with a QB with that little amount of pro on field experience. Even as good as their Defense has been
well, no doubt Kaep still has some rough edges and he was wildly inaccurate during the 1st half of the game either from nerves or just needing to get warmed up. he was missing wide open receivers badly on several occassions. however, he settled in and had a better 2nd half with his arm. the interesting thing about their next opponent is that the falcons just faced a similar 'style' of QB, who is dangerous with his legs. the falcons did an 'ok' job containing wilson but i can see the falcons defense being exposed in some ways like the packers D got exposed. Nolan plays a fairly aggressive style, which can sometimes open up some huge running lanes for a running QB. it's not going to surprise me if Kaep has another huge game running the ball and if he can make some throws and not make too many mistakes, the niners are going to be hard to beat.
I think their goal was to play man with help over the top of the WRs and spy him with a linebacker. Only problem was the Pack's rush was up the field and opened the middle too much and Kaep was too fast for the spy on most plays. When they pushed him wide, he still got yards but not near as much. Its basically "pick your poison." What I really like is everyone is focusing on Kaep (deservedly so) but not on the offensive line and Gore who had a great game as well (119 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving). Falcons could get caught up and forget about 21 and get gashed!
well, if the falcons play as physical and aggressive on sunday as they did yesterday, Gore may not have a huge day but Kaep might with his legs. Nolan likes to play physical and aggressive and, as you say, that's when things open up for someone like Kaep. Nolan has his hands full game planning for this 49ers offense. I don't envy him at all.
I just think there are too many options for the Niners. As a defensive coordinator, who do you decide to slide help to? Moss has been mostly quiet this year, so you slide protection over to a hot Crabtree and now you open up for a deep touchdown down the sideline, because Kaep can get it there quickly. In two TE sets, you double Vernon and Walker gets open, because both of those guys are faster than linebackers and just as fast as your DBs with much more size. You want to play protection all across and not allow deep balls??? Gore and LaMichael will catch the underneath stuff, WRs block well and they'll chew up the field. Man across?? Nothing but green for Kaep to run all over the place. And the most troublesome thing for a defense is GRo has been scaling back the offense for the postseason and has put in even more formation, scheme and plays. Like you said, hands full game planning for this.
First off, how does one that is called ram29jackson end up a Packer fan, I'm quite confused over that. Secondly, did inexperience make Peyton Manning throw that pass from one sideline through the middle to the other sideline and get it picked like so many inexperienced, rookie QB's do...mistakes, costly or not are just that, mistakes and not always an inexperienced thing...
Exactly. In theory, inexperience should have led to a disaster game after suffering that pick 6 in his first drive. Nope, he settled down and proceeded to rip the Packers a new one.
In my opinion, ram29jackson is putting too much into inexperience of the QB and not as much into who the person is that is developing the QB.
this the run game and o line had a huge part in opening up situations for kaep to make plays kaep had a special night running and throwing no doubt and ya gotta say the play calling was spot on
In all this I can't get over the unbelievable HC job by Harbaugh. Game planning and who he puts on the field is ultimately his decision. When one looks at the 49er's the day that Singletary was dismissed until now, has a HC directly had so much impact on the success of an organization. I'm sure there are other candidates, but you take Harbaugh out of the picture and I wonder just how successful over such a short period of time the 49er's would be. I'd gladly trade the entire Cards team for Harbaugh and let him do his thing. Unbelievable.
i'm a 47 year old man. I have learned sports is a entertainment medium and not a gang affiliation. I can like whom ever I want for what ever reasons I want. I was born in California so I became a Rams fan. My Dads family is from Wisconsin so I have followed the Packers for a long time too. I like collecting sports memorabilia from all teams and dont let a bias get in the way of appreciating all teams and their histories. ram29jackson refers to a one time Rams wide receiver named Harold Jackson who also played for the Eagles and the Patriots and a couple other teams before retiring. all players make mistakes but the fact is early in a career you will make more mistakes because you dont know as much and havent played as much. Thats a progressional fact of life in sports as in anything else. If Kaepernick actually gets to a SB and wins this year. That will be the first time in history someone with his inexperience has done that well. Even if SF wins the next game, I still expect them to lose the SB because of his inexperience. If he makes history thats great ! Not a problem for me. But I'm a sports fan like millions of others in the world and in this world of sports forum fandom, this is how I evaluate the teams and the situation ahead. Also, just for the record-When the playoffs started I said none of the 3 rookie QBs would make it to the Super Bowl and ended up being right about that. Just my opinoon and view that ended up being correct but it was based in their inexperience as well. just answering your question, I hope that didnt come off or sound mean in some way
2 seasons does not compare to 7 starts in my opinion. Thats a hell of alot more snaps and practices and meetings etc.
Well, it's more game snaps, yes, but just because he is not starting doesnt mean that kaep doesnt attend practice or meetings with the rest of the team.
