According to Cowboys OLB Anthony Spencer‘s agent, Jordan Woy, the two sides could have an agreement in place before the start of free agency in March. “You know the Cowboys,†said Woy, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. “If they want somebody, they figure out ways to get it done.†Spencer played this year under the franchise tag and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. The Cowboys could use their tag on him again, but that means that they will need to pay him more than $10 million next year. Dallas is in a pretty tough position financially, so it probably makes more sense for them to work on a long-term agreement, rather than franchise him for another season. “Obviously his goal would be to go back,†said Woy. “He likes it here. He loves to play here, but a little bit of it will be up to the team. I’m sure we can get a deal worked out, but if we don’t he’ll get a deal out there.†Source: NFL Trade Rumors
Re: Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer Optimistic That He’ll Be Back In Dallas Next Year People thought he would be gone and we needed him after we switched to a 4-3. I think they have no idea how a 4-3 actually works. I could see Spencer outproducing Ware in a 4-3 Sent from my HTC Vivid
There are rumors that Spencer might become a DE. That would mean the Cowboys would have to get very creative with his salary. They could do it, but the bad thing is that they are going to have to pay the piper at some point, which would put them in salary cap Hell. Or, they might get turned in by the Giants again.
That was a really chickencrap thing to do by the giants and that giant piece of whale droppings, mara from the giants!
Ditto. But, I think the tail end of Rick Gosselin's column in today's Dallas Morning News said it best: "Until Jones fixes the offensive line, this franchise will not get fixed." Gosselin was using the nomination of Larry Allen to the NFL HOF as a focus of his article. He was saying that Allen's nomination should remind JJ of one of the things that made the Cowboys teams of years past so successful. Between Allen, Flozell Adams, and Andre Gurode, they went to 20 Pro Bowls.
Re: Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer Optimistic That He’ll Be Back In Dallas Next Year Left side. At 260is he may be a little light for a traditional LDE in the run game, but he was an excellent run defender as an Olb in a 3-4, so I think he can play the run effectivly. As a rusher, I always thought he waa better suited to DE. He is very good at using power to gain leverage, but he didn't have that elite burst of the line rushers in a 3-4 need. He wins more by engaging and from a 3 point stance, he should be able to use leverage better Sent from my HTC Vivid
