Jermichael Finley Hopes To Be With Packers Organization 'Forever'

The Green Bay Packers' locker-room cleanout Sunday, after Saturday's 45-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, read like a goodbye of sorts for wide receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver, as neither anticipates being back with the team for the 2013 season.

The case of enigmatic tight end Jermichael Finley is a different matter after the fifth-year pro signed a two-year, $14 million extension last offseason, with a $3.5 million roster bonus due in March.

The Packers must decide if they want to continue their relationship with the frustrating 25-year-old, who has the skills that make scouts drool but has been wildly inconsistent in his career. Finley said he hope to remain in Green Bay.

"Hopefully, I'm here forever. I'm good for next year as far as I know," he said Sunday, via the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Wherever he ends up, Finley doesn't believe he's reached his potential.

"I don't think I even scratched it," Finley said. "I've poured it all out, but I don't think consistently for 16 games. You've got to have opportunities, too. I'm not saying they're not coming to me or whatnot, but if I had a chance to show my skills, I think I'd be a little bit better."

At some point, he went from the go-to-guy, to a ball dropper

    Guy's an egotistical idiot.

Even when he somewhat admits to a lack of consistency, he goes back to finger pointing to a lack of opportunities "to show my skills".

Get rid of the cancer cuz it's just gonna spread with more inane excuses.

hes no good for the timing based offense they run, hed be great in an offense like the steelers that let him run around while ben looks for an open receiver...i imagine hes gonna want top dollar though

He might want it...but he won't get it.

i dont know, everyone wants to be new england....someone looking for an athletic TE that can be a mismatch lined up as a WR will surely overpay him

I dunno, in many cases I'd agree with you but not with Finley, not anymore. Maybe 3 years ago when he had a promising second season and seemed poised to breakout. Then he didn't. And didn't again the next year. And again last year. The only things he does consistently are drop easy balls and cause problems. Until he proves he can produce over a full season like the elite WR/TE matchup nightmare he's supposed to be, he'll probably be on a string of one year slightly-above-average money deals.
