Isiah Thomas Says Lebron James Is Probably Better Athlete Then Michael Jordan Was

Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas said Tuesday the debate over whether LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan hinges on a few things, but as far as who is the better athlete, Thomas said it's probably James.

"They're both great players, and they're both great in their eras," Thomas said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "In my era, we hadn't seen an athlete quite like Michael Jordan. He jumped higher than everyone else. He was a little faster than everyone else and he was just the best athlete.

"LeBron James is the best athlete of today, and he's probably a better athlete than Michael Jordan was. He's bigger, he's faster, he's stronger."

As far as who would win head to head, Thomas said it depends.

Isaiah Thomas and MJ did not like eachother. Of course he would think Lebron would be the better of the two.

If someone got a steal off of Michael, he got three off of them. If they blocked his shot, he'd chase them down and block theirs and get a couple more later. If the Bulls needed rebounds, he'd go get them. He always seemed to know exactly what was needed in just about any situation. And you could bank on 30+ points every game.

Idk if it is hate for lebron or the fact that people crowned him before he was "king". I like lebron he is a beast and a freak of nature.

The media/ESPN/NBA needed a figure in the league to be the new MJ, they tried to make Kobe that guy. But Kobe made a name for himself Now Kobe is Kobe.

So they dramatically made lebron that guy.

 

I have no hate for Lebron he went somewhere else I don't give a heck, I'm just stating my opinion, I do believe he is a better athlete, I've just seen him choke so many times when MJ wouldn't have so in that respect I don't think he is a better basketball player than MJ, I also don't think he will ever surpass him either MJ was just one of the greatest players there ever was and ever will be, I may be changing my tune once Lebron ends his career because he is still relatively young.

 

I love the people that can't read what was said. James is the better athlete hands down. And that is all Isiah was saying. People just look for reasons to hate on James.

 

I don't care one way or the other about LeBron. Don't watch basketball anymore cause too many freaking games and got burned out on that game while in prison. Imagine watching nothing but basketball every freaking day. But I digress. LeBron maybe the better athlete but he is lacking something that MJ had in spades. The killer instinct. The ability to take over the game and dominate time in and time out. Not just once or a few times. Jordan was a shooter. And could handle the ball extremely well. He wasn't much of an assist type of guy. James is. He passes the ball when he should take the shot. And he DID go to another team. There is no way that Jordan or Magic or Bird would have teamed up to win a title. They were true Alpha Dogs. James is not. He is an alpha male but not the top tier.

 

You disagree with what? No one said James is a better player.

 

As a Knicks fan, I can tell you Isiah's talent evaluation is questionable to say the least...

about him going to miami he needed to leave clevland they had crap teams when he made it to the finals. Where are the cavs now bottom feeder of the east? He got them there mostly by himself now in miami i think its to early to say whos better he could still win 5 more rings.

Saying LeBron is a better athlete is Isaiah quote the great Captain Obvious. Being a better player and a better athlete are two completely different things.

Anyone ever actually watch Paul Pierce play. The guy is flat out unathletic, almost to the point of comedy. 10 Time All Star and future HOFer
