Jermichael Finley told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Wednesday that he wouldn't be willing to accept a pay cut in order to stay with the Green Bay Packers.

The tight end is due a $3 million roster bonus on March 27 and there were rumblings during last season that the team was preparing to cut ties with him. If the Packers trade or release Finley, they would save $8.25 million.

He told ESPN that he hasn't been contacted by the Packers about restructuring his contract, a two-year deal he signed with the team last offseason.

"The Packers are barely talking to me right now," he told ESPN. "I know they're just doing it the Packer way and playing it close to the vest."

"I haven't got a call. I haven't got a text asking me to take a pay cut or to restructure my deal at this point -- not at all," he said.

If the Packers do contact him about reworking his contract, he made it clear he'd rather be released than have to take a pay cut.

"I'd have to walk for sure, meaning I couldn't take a pay cut," he told ESPN. "Maybe I'd restructure if it's a deal that I like and it makes sense, but I'm not the guy that's just going to sign anything and let anything pbutt.

"I'm not that guy. Other than that, taking a pay cut or restructuring doesn't sound good to me at this time. I like my deal. I start training in Minneapolis [on Thursday] and I'm more inspired than ever to start next season off right and be the tight end I know I can be. It's all business at the end of the day. I just love what I do."

not worth $8 mill per season.

he's basically brent celek ............. an average nfl starting TE that is mainly there as a reliable safety valve for the qb. finley is not a game changer like gronk or graham and should not be paid like them.

finley should be in the $4 to $5 mill/yr range.

The 2011 Finley was worth the money, the 2012 wasn't. Well, goodbye dude....

Im sick of seeing him drop balls...then when he does make a catch he freaking trips over the lines on the field. Sick of hearing about his confidence level, and watching Rodgers run over every time to congratulate him on catching a ball that he SHOULD have caught. No more stupid "fin" dance either. BYE DUDE.

What a big time disappointment this guy is. I remember a list of top tight ends a few years ago, and Finley was at the top. Not so much anymore.

Maybe top potential TE's. He's never actually followed through on the field enough to have ever been considered among the best. I thought the guy was the next coming myself, a couple years ago. Everything was there but his brain, like Vernon early in his career, and I figured he was too talented and in too good of a situation to not figure it out. Vernon did. Finley might still as well, the talent is still there, but its been too long now for anyone to risk anything signifcant on it, IMO.

Finley's biggest problems are between his ears.

he very well might still be a top 10 TE but he's closer to being an 'average' tight end in this league than being the best and right now he's being paid like the top TE in the league. like i said, his worth is almost half of what he's actually being paid, so if someone can get him for reasonable money, he could help a team.

If he want to play for reasonable money, he could stay at GB. Well, sooner or later, he will see what his value is....
