The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a five-year contract with wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, a source involved in the deal said Monday.

The Chiefs also have used their franchise tag on offensive tackle Branden Albert, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

The two moves came right at the end of Monday's deadline for teams to use their franchise tags on players.

bowe reportedly received $50 mill over 5 years.

like i said after they gave up the farm for alex smith, they had no choice but to sign bowe to whatever he asked or their alex smith experiment was going to fail miserably. bowe had all the leverage after that trade.

Not a bad move by the Chiefs. Things looking up. Could change up the top of the draft...

More money than I would want to give Bowe myself..

Totally. The king of garbage time stat compilation who's usually MIA when it matters.

His attitude from what I've seen of him is also awful. Not the kind of guy I'd want to put this much money into and expect to be a cornerstone of a franchise, let alone someone expected to be a leader and influence other players.

What would really be the cat's meow would be if Tony Gonzalez resigned with the Chiefs again to end his career. Talk about your lead story in the Kansas City Star!!!

You called it and I'll eat crow. Really thought Reid would let him walk with some of the available WR free agents out there and for far fewer dollars and better hands. I just wonder how many teams would have coughed up $10 million/year for this guy.

THANK YOU. I'm glad someone said it

Bowe isn't anywhere near an elite WR

i love bowe....and i dont blame him for not caring last season.

He would have put up marshall-like numbers if he came to the steelers this season, ben would absolutely freaking love him.

5 for 50 is a bargain for him, thats not really elite money...just upper end and hes an upper end talent, i think miami would have crushed that offer

wow the Bowe deal is even bigger than first reported.

It adds up to $36 million over the first three years, and $56 million over five. Of the amount, $26 million is guaranteed. $20 million is fully guaranteed now. The other $6 million becomes fully guaranteed next year.

It puts Bowe behind only Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, and barely in front of Buccaneers receiver Vincent Jackson.
