In an interview with the NFL Network on Wednesday, quarterback Vince Young said via ESPN.com that he sent a letter of apology to his former coach Jeff Fisher for his actions when both were with the Tennessee Titans. VY, hoping to get back into the NFL after being out in 2012, said the death of mentor Steve McNair affected him greatly in his time in Tennessee. "I definitely wanted to apologize for the things that I did, letting him know about the frustration, a lot of different things that was going on in my life at the time, and want him to know that I really did appreciate him trying to make me become one of those type of leaders on the team, a successful quarterback," Young said of Fisher, who is now coach of the St. Louis Rams. Young had several incidents in Tennessee, such as missing and being late to meetings, an episode where family and friends apparently though he was depressed to the point of suicide following a knee injury in the 2008 season opener, and finally a tantrum directed at Fisher for not being allowed back in a 2010 game against Washingto due to a thumb injury. Young said he was "immature and not paying attention and not listening, and taking my frustration out on a lot of people wasn't the right thing to do." Young worked out at the University of Texas pro day on Wednesday, hoping for one last shot at the NFL. "I pray that I'll get an opportunity, but if not, [the pro day workout] was worth the try. I know I can be a big asset to a lot of the teams in the NFL right now. Just to let them know I've been staying on top of my game, just in case that opportunity do come," he said. I do believe Vince means what he says, but the cynical part of me thinks he only wrote a letter to Fisher to make himself look good to the NFL, obviously in the hopes of getting a job.
If there were no ulterior motives and it was genuinely about making amends with Fisher then I dont see why he would have felt the need to go public with it and tell the world that he did it.
weak........... a man apologizes to someone's face when he hecks up that bad. writing a letter and taking it public makes it definitely feel like a publicity stunt.
I still remember a certain steelers fan here defending this guy as if he was worth a damn in the nfl.
Lol. What a joke. Vince Young shouldn't be a starting QB anywhere, and if that's what this letter was, and it most likely was...then he should be laughed off the face of this planet.
