NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday the Philadelphia Eagles have released Asomugha after two disappointing seasons. The Eagles later confirmed the cornerback's release. Asomugha was slated to earn $15 million next season, a figure making it impossible for the 31-year-old to stick around on coach Chip Kelly's revamped defense. Asomugha -- who will still cost $4 million against the cap -- had become a symbol of Philadelphia's gaudy and failed post-lockout free-agency binge in 2011. Signing a five-year, $60 million contract, the hope was that Asomugha would give the Eagles a shutdown corner every bit as talented as Darrelle Revis. Source: NFL.com
What a disaster he turned out to be. He'll probably be a top flight corner again now that he's left Philly.
Uhm...seriously? Here's an article that has a bunch of Redskins on it. Nnamdi isn't even on there homey. Hardly the 2nd worst ever. Y! SPORTS That being said, that makes us like 30 mil under the cap and having no dependable DB's. Not liking the Chip Kelly regime so far. Mike Patterson and Cullen Jekins were 2 of my favorites.
Neither Jenkins or Patterson are of any use in a 3-4. Dude is cleaning house. I'm good with it. He should build the team exactly how he wants it. Burn it to the ground, build it back up.
i thought he was way overated in oakland and philly.all i saw last year from jenkins was him gasping for air when players were running over or around him,so hopefully, that continues in new york next year!
Lol Naamdi was definitely not overrated in Oakland. If anything he didn't get enough credit for his play because it was, well, Oakland.
This. Jenkins was a DUMB move. I also think it's dumb to move to a 3-4 but whatever works. I just know that right now we don't have a starting CB worth a heck, our LB's are marginal at best and our safeties suck. Isn't part of the reason Ryans wanted out of Houston was the 3-4? Build around the personnel you have. This team was 3-4 moves away from playoff bound with decent coaching. I'm afraid that this is going to turn into Rich Rod taking over the Wolverines.
Jenkins had his best year as a 3-4 DE the year before you guys signed him. He is an infinitly better 5 Tech then he is a 3 Tech I dont even know why they cut him Sent from my HTC Vivid
Thats because he has no business in a 4-3. Jenkins along with Ronnie Brown and Steve Smith were the Eagles signing guys just for the heck of it Sent from my HTC Vivid
