During an appearance on "NFL Total Access" from the NFL Annual Meeting on Monday, NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano asked the coach if the Cardinals currently have a starting quarterback on their roster. "Yeah, we got a very capable one in Drew Stanton we just happened to steal away from (Colts coach) Chuck (Pagano)," he said. "Drew knows the offense, he's more than capable of doing it and if he's our guy, I'm comfortable." NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported last week that the Cardinals are unlikely to draft a quarterback in the first round and are content for Stanton and Brian Hoyer to battle for the starting job in training camp. Arians apparently views Stanton as an untapped talent in need of an opportunity. It seems awfully risky to us, especially considering the fever dream of musical chairs the Cardinals suffered through in 2012. Source: NFL.com
Hopefully, Arians gets a couple years at least there to rebuild it. Especially considering all the money they have to pay out for guys they cut
So now Stanton is a very capable starter and the O-Line isn't nearly as bad as fans and the media make is out to be. Gotta love my Cards if for nothing more than the soundbites coming from Arians.
Disagree. Hopefully for there sake its a Cam Cameron/Dolphins situation where the team was so bad they crap can him after one season Arians was a terrible hire. This is a guy that was on the cusp ( and rightfully so) of getting fired for years as the OC of what should have been a very good offence, has a nice run as an interm HC on an emotionaly charged team in a weak division with 4 free wins Sent from my HTC Vivid
Couldn't agree more. The jury is more than out. Arians is here for two reasons: Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger. Period. Sick of hearing all this "players coach" and "players love him crap". He was dealt a crap hand when he signed here and with Stanton apparently is his guy and Mendenhall the big signing. Just don't see it happening.
arians is certainly an optimist. stanton is and has always been nothing more than a back-up nfl qb. you wouldn't want this guy to be anything more than a spot starter because of injury to your regular starter.
Which one? A draftee? Brian Hoyer? The Cards are on the cheap and have to bite the bullet for another wasted Larry Fitzgerald year.
The Cardinals were the ONLY team in the NFL that did not have a representative/scout at Geno Smith's West Virginia Pro Day where he apparently put on an unparalleled show. 60/64 throwing the rock. But what do we know? We're just fans to Arians.
