Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager John Idzik tried not to tip their hand Sunday with regard to star cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Johnson, speaking before the start of the NFL owners’ meetings in Arizona, told reporters that he’s open to trading Revis “if it makes our team better,†but he also said the team isn’t shopping him and refused to close the door on working out a long-term extension.

"If somebody wants to make an offer, for any of our players, we'd always listen," Johnson told reporters, according to ESPNNewYork.com. "We're not actively beating the bushes."

Johnson said that reports saying he’d rather trade Revis than sign him are “patently untrue.†He added that he’s willing to wait out another Revis contract holdout. Revis missed most of training camp in 2010 before signing a seven-year agreement, which he can terminate after the 2013 season.

"If (general manager John Idzik) believes extension would be acceptable to the team & make the team better, we would do it," Johnson said, according to the New York Daily News.

revis is saying he doesn't believe the deal with the bucs is going to happen. apparently the jets are insisting they get the bucs 1st rd pick this year but the bucs are offering their 1st next year.

personally, i think a 1st in 2014 is more than fair for the jets.

For the type of player Revis is, a 1st for next year is a slap in the face. A 1st this year AND next year with a possible late round pick sounds about right. He is PROVEN, i believe its his contract that scares off teams not his injury. I think teams are waiting to see if the jets blink, sort of speak, to drive down the price. As a Revis fan, i would love to keep him but as a jet fan...i say trade his butt and get what you can to make this team better. Just my 2 cents. Get this trade done already.

...and i fade back to black.

You are high if you think Revis is worth 2 firsts to any team. The Jets are desperate to get something for him before he walks to the Patriots next year with no compensation. He is coming off a season ending injury and is demanding a huge contract. 1st this year and 4th/Conditional 3rd gets the deal done and may be too much.

There is a reason only one team is in talks for Revis.

Revis will be moved by draft day. They are doing the right thing by asking for ridiculous things for him just to see if they can get them. Now come draft day and the best offer is TB pick 13 they will be all over it but no need to rush.

They are going to have to move him predraft. Revis is going to have to take a physical which can't be done on draft day.
