The Lakers announced Friday night that All-Star guard Kobe Bryant has suffered a “probable torn left Achilles” tendon and will undergo an MRI to confirm the injury on Saturday. If confirmed, the injury would surely end his 2012-13 season.

“Terrible,” Bryant said during postgame comments. “A terrible feeling. … I made a move I’ve made a million times, and [the Achilles] just popped.”

Bryant, 34, left the Lakers’ 118-116 win over the Warriors on Friday after falling to the court in the fourth quarter while attempting to drive to his left past Harrison Barnes on the perimeter. Bryant walked off the court under his own power but moved gingerly. He departed with 3:06 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not return, finishing with 34 points (on 9-for-21 shooting), five rebounds and four assists in 45 minutes.

I watched his interviews after the game. One of the reporters asked him if it was possible to play through the injury. Probably one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard lol.

Should've seen his FB post. I understand the frustration, I've had a serious injury and was pissed off about the thought of the pain and recovery process and downtime, but he acted like a freaking crybaby about it. Said something along the lines of 'how am I supposed to come back from this at full strength at 35 years old!'

    Screwin whaaaaaaaa.

This sucks. I like Kobe alot. But if anyone can play through it it's him. I don't really know if that's possible though.

Just read that he's out 6-9 months. He said he's definitely coming back though.

It's physically impossible you can't use your foot like you need to and you cant run because you don't have that tendon.

If they make the playoffs, they're one and done against OKC or SA without him.

They would have been one and done with him. Now they have an excuse though that may save some jobs

He was supposed to retire in 2014. I wonder what this does to those plans.

D'Antoni's for starters. Which sucks because he was wearing him down like he was LeBron at his apex.

As for his FB rant, I just read it and actually liked it. He was on meds and was venting; refreshing to see some real talk from athletes instead of using community managers copying motivational quotes.

Well real talk except for the "I have faith in my teammates". Come on, Kobe lol.

Not to mention a LOT of money. If they keep Howard and amnesty Kobe, they save $115 million dollars.

Howard has always wanted to be The Man in LA. Now, he has his chance without Kobe.
