The 49ers, who leveraged a bounty of draft picks to address needs at safety and wide receiver, emerged from the draft as the sole favorites to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

Sportsbook Bovada.lv pegs San Fran at 6/1, followed by Denver (15/2), New England (8/1) and Seattle (9/1).

Odds have changed in the last six weeks. On March 15, following the start of free agency, Denver and San Fran were listed as 7/1 co-favorites, followed by New England (15/2) and Seattle (10/1).

The 49ers used two of their original 15 draft picks to acquire Ravens wideout Anquan Boldin.

Can't wait to see them play. GB comes to the stick week 1 !!!! Then we go to real tough SEA week 2. We'll have a real good feel what's up after those 2 games.

49rs will be awesome next season. You got CK emerging as a team leader, you got RB depth, you got Harbaugh, all adds up to a good team.

I expect them to be pretty good next year. I would pick them as favorites too

typically, the SB loser does poorly the next season. the odds are not with them.
i think it's been 40 years since a team lost a SB and then won it the next year.

The history ain't pretty. That's why I don't feed into the hype. Just like all the other teams, they have to earn it by getting into the playoffs which will be harder to do this year, and then they have to string together wins in the playoffs to get back to the dance.

    Thats horsecrap.

Last year the Pats went to the AFC Championship. 2011, The Steelers won the division, lost in the WC round. 2010, same for Indy. 2009 the Cardinals won the division and went 2 deep in the playoffs. 2008 Pats finished 1st in the division. 2007 the Bears finished last. 2006 Seahawks won the division and went 2 deep. 2005 Eagles - cellar. 2004 Panthers - 3rd in division.

So in the last nine seasons, only 3 teams who lost the SB failed to, at minimum, win their division the following year. That's not doing "poorly".

i just meant they couldn't improve on their previous season. they maintained or regressed in some fashion instead of improving.

hell, the bills went to 4 straight Super bowls not that long ago and lost all 4. maybe the 49ers could do that ............. colin kaepernick is the next jim kelly?

It's equally true of the SB winners as well, save the 03 & 04 Pats.

fair point. it seems like teams have had a difficult time getting back to the SB in back to back years regardless of whether they win or lose.

I think it's called being complacent.

Or maybe just parity? The top teams aren't complacent. Its just really difficult to go all the way every year.

seems like most teams have a small window to do their damage in the league. While parity gives most teams a chance to go to the big game, I miss dominate teams. Gives you a team to beat.

Aww, someone doesn't like others talking good about their team, possibly jinxing them for the next season...:icon_evil:

Yep. The 9ers should be a shoe in for years to come. I don't see anything stopping them. The rest of the league should just fold up their tents and go home. When is that jinx supposed to take effect?
