The Chiefs traded cornerback Javier Arenas to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for fullback Anthony Sherman, sources told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Wednesday. Arenas' agent, Hadley Engelhard, told Rapoport that he's pleased with the deal: "This is a trade where, based on Kansas City's acquisitions at the cornerback position, we were actively pursuing. With the trade made, we're happy it's to the Arizona Cardinals." It's a swap that makes sense for both teams. New Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has little need for a fullback in his pass-centric attack, but Reid will find use for Sherman in his West Coast offense. The 2011 fifth-round pick figures as a lead blocker for Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, but that's a skill set still in progress for Sherman. Rapoport noted that Chiefs general manager John Dorsey prefers taller corners, meaning Arenas -- at just 5-foot-9 -- was not a fit. Source: NFL.com
supposedly, the chiefs gave up Javier Arenas for him.......... um, ok.......... a solid nickel back who can also return kicks/punts when needed for a marginal nfl fullback?? especially considering the cardinals were probably going to cut him because they won't be using a fullback any longer ............. not sure why the chiefs did this.
Andy Reid loves him some obscure FB in the west coast offense... Tony Stewart josh Parry Thomas Tapeh Dan Klecko Kyle Ekel Owen Schmitt Then there were the others, Weaver, Ritchie, Mitchell, Pritchett. He loves them...usually carries 2 on a roster and honestly, there isn't that many of them anymore...maybe that's the reasoning?
Areanas was OK as a NB but he hasnt really accomplished much in any part of being a CB or a return man...he hasnt really produced at all, jalil brown has been the better player. still an odd move trade baldwin to the steelers you fat heck
