Texas A&M Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel is expected to enter the 2014 NFL Draft. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports asked several NFL general managers, assistant coaches and scouts for their thoughts on Manziel, the opinions varied wildly. One general manager said Manziel, the first freshman to win the Heisman, will be better than the current crop of young athletic quarterbacks. He will rival or be better than Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson. This, to me, sounds patently insane. Source: The Redzone
he isnt half the passer as RG3 or Wilson, hes erratic and has a weaker arm. To me him going in the first round is insanity. Hes Ty Detmer to a TEE
I'd have to wait and see how he matures. Last year he was a winner, exciting, great stats, awesome COLLEGE quarterback.
He seems way to cocky to me right now to be taken seriously at the NFL level. He may be a decent NFL QB but he's got a lot of growing up to do maturity wise imo. Best thing he could do is not let that Heisman go to his head.
He already let that Heisman go to his head. He's a spoiled brat who never had it hard in his life. The best thing that could happen to him, is a career ending injury. Nobody likes a Ryan Leaf.
Whoa I think he's a long way from being a Leaf. He can play football but he's probably undersized at the NFL level. I was just speaking of all of those tweets that he has done and pictures he's posted that suggested he let the hype go to his head. He probably could be a decent NFL QB but he's got to tone it down and get to work.
I agree with everything DaBears22 had to say but think JEMicklos took it a bit far. He definitely has an inflated ego after last season and would probably be better served actually if he had a slump this year and stays in school. There's definitely a lot of benefit to confidence, but that's a slippery slope sometimes. He was great last year but has a loooong way to go before he's on the same level with anybody who's proven themselves in the league, for any amount of time. Not sure what the other guy means by better off with an injury above, exactly. A lot of cocky buttholes have gone generally unchecked in life but have been great players. Just, you know, buttholes.
Russell wilson has pipes for legs and arms, and was a 5 year starter.....Johnny Football plans on bolting for the pros after two, his kinny, erractic, and has a weakish arm. Ty Detmer is an uncanny comparison, like seriously, i cant think of one more perfect After that i think Tate Forcier....neither very complimentary comparisons He is a bit cocky, i dont necessarily think that is a bad thing, but his cockiness teams with his horrible pro translatable skills is what is going to do him in....going in someone thinking your better than everyone and being much worse is what will kill him his plan to declare ALREADY is bad news, if hes ever going to be a good pro he needs to play through college, he wont be anything declaring as a redshirt sophomore, especially at his size. Exciting player, but nothing much to be excited about as a pro. i definitely said those same words about tebow, lol...looks like espn will be getting a new sweetheart
