The NFL is considering not extending an invitation to the Combine to players who are academicaly ineligible in college, according to CBSSports.com.

CBS’s source said the move is being discussed as a result of increased concern with the maturity and commitment of prospects entering the NFL. If the measure were in place for the 2013 Combine, a considerable number of players would not have been invited to Indianapolis for the Combine.

NCAA academic eligibility regulates a student-athlete’s coursework completion and GPA.

Now there's a step in the right direction. Reward the kids that do what they are supposed, punish the trouble makers

So basically the combine would consist of 12 potential players...lol

I Think it is a great idea, but somebody will take it to court on behalf of the players who are not smart enough to be eligible.

I agree with this. Division 1 football players get a full ride while people who actually want to go to college have to jump through hoops with financial aid and all that. Make the players take some responsibility for themselves and earn the right to go to the combine.

I have no issue at all with this and hope this takes effect. Next step would be to require a player to graduate before playing in the league.

This will just turn ugly as players 'mysteriously' find a way to graduate.

Too much dishonesty in the system for me to believe this won't create the future scandals of the NFL.

I agree with most of your statement but the last part is not accurate. Some are just not great learners not trouble makers. Even if that might be a small number, I would rather allow someone who shows great effort toward their school work. They might not be the brightest bulb but they try to shine bright.

What? Not great learners? That's got to be a joke...?

I knew a guy in high school who ended up getting a scholarship to Va Tech. The guy wasn't stupid he just had a hard time grasping things. Very cool guy and willing to give his all to get what he wanted. He took two math courses in one year just to get his credits so he could go to Va Tech. And he was a straight arrow. Never tried to look for trouble. So to me your statement about Academically Ineligible Players being trouble makers doesn't apply to all.
