Volume 12, a fan group that recently partnered with the same marketing firm which handled Richard Sherman’s celebrity softball game Sunday, is organizing an effort to break the Guinness World Record for “loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium†during the Seahawks’ home opener against the rival 49ers on Sept. 15 at the CLink, the Seattle Post-Intelligencier reports. Not officially connected with the team, Volume 12 has successfully applied with Guinness to attempt the new world record, according to the group’s Facebook page. Guinness has sent Volume 12 the materials needed to submit proof of the 12th Man’s record attempt. The current Guinness record for “loudest crowd roar at a sport stadium†is 131.76 decibels, set during a soccer match at the Ali Sami Yen Sport Complex Turk Telekom Arena on March 18, 2011, in Istanbul, Turkey, by fans of Turkey’s Galatasaray S.K. club. On their website, the Seahawks say Seattle’s 12th Man has been measured at 112 decibels — louder than a power saw or a rock concert, and not much quieter than a Boeing 747. Source: The Redzone
