The American Civil Liberties Union is concerned about Aaron Hernandez's accommodations in jail as the former New England Patriots tight end waits for his murder trial to start. In a blog post on ACLU.org, the group expresses concern about the damage being done to Hernandez as he is placed in protective custody, also known as solitary confinement – which the ACLU argues can do more damage than good. It cites international communities "that recognize solitary confinement as a form of torture." "Regardless of what you think of Aaron Hernandez, it's important to take a minute and remember he has not yet been convicted — in the eyes of the law, he is still innocent until proven guilty," ACLU.org wrote. "But, while awaiting trial, he has been locked alone in a small room with little or no human interaction for over 20 hours a day." All cells are the size of a parking spot...just in gen pop you get to share that parking space. With another dude or four. Community toilet included. These buttholes should be talking about how wrong it is that a dude on a murder charge, being investigated for more, gets special treatment and a cell all to himself, while th e drug offenders and burglars and whatnot are doing extremely hard time for doing a lot less. Get up in arms about that crap, don't whine about the poor rich famous guy being held in tewwible conditions. He should be getting a lot worse.
He is in said cell for his own safety...Are they just ignoring the fact that he is on trail for murder, has been connected to a double homicide, been connected to 2 attempted homicides, and is being sued after shooting an associate?
they were keeping him in a medical facility cell last i heard....throw him in gen pop lol, id much rather prefer alone time if i was him
According to the Sheriff, his cell is a little bigger than the normal cell (10x7 compared to 6x8.) pending his behavior (which has been "excellent" do far) he's only in there a week before being reevaluated and possibly moved.
i agree that him having his own cell is not cruel or a form of torture. crap, if i was there, i wouldn't want to share the space with someone else. however, i don't believe anyone should be 'getting a lot worse' if they haven't even gone to trial yet. People should be innocent until proven guilty and should not be subjected to unusual punishment just because we 'think' they are scum.
I'm not suggesting any unusual punishment, especially at this point in the proceedings, all I'm saying is he doesn't deserve special treatment just because he's rich and famous, and that the unfair part of this is not that he's being held by himself in "solitary". He should be in pre-trial gen pop and have to go through all the everyday prison bullcrap that entails, just like everyone else would in his situation. Plus, he's not in actual solitary sleeping on the floor and denied any privledges, he's being held in a medical wing, I'm sure he's got a television in his cell and a bed and access to all the reading materials he desires, which is surely a crapload better than anyone else awaiting trial on murder charges has it.
Nope. No TV in his cell or in the common room. He can use the telephone and go outside...3 hours out of the cell.
as long as he is getting 3 hots and a cot and a toilet and nobody is buttfreaking him against his will,there is nothing to complain about!
