Captains Robinson Cano and David Wright made their picks Monday night for the All-Star Home Run Derby.

Wright, representing the National League, selected Washington's Bryce Harper and two from Colorado: Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer.

For the AL, Cano chose Prince Fielder from the Tigers and Baltimore's Chris Davis before announcing his final pick was still undecided.

Told Phillies fans were upset about the omission of Domonic Brown, Wright said: "I'm sure there's a lot of people that are disappointed."

Added Wright: "I did it as easy as I knew possible. At the time when they needed to know who I was picking, I took the National League home run leader. I took the guy that won the fan poll -- the guy who the fans really wanted to see in the Home Run Derby. So you have CarGo and Bryce Harper. And that left me with the 'Ryder Cup captain's pick.'

"I grew up with Michael. I think that he's one of the more underrated players in the game. And, obviously, the friendship had something to do with it. And his production had a lot to do with it. You're talking about a guy that's got 15 or 16 homers. He had a 27-game hitting streak. For me, that was my choice."

Cano should pick Miggy for the 4th spot, if he's healthy enough. If not, he should go with Encarnacion.
Wright should've picked Dominic Brown over Cuddy

Didn't Fielder win a derby when he played for the Brewers? I think either him or Harper will win it. Cuddyer? lol good luck buddy...He'll get more homers than Jason Bay and Brandon Inge did lol.

Every year I start off watching the derby contest with the intention of watching the whole thing. Then after the first round, things always slow way down with Ortiz and whoever else stopping the show to give the hitter a towel and water. Forget that crap, just get the derby done and over with lol.

Fielder won it last year with Detroit as well as 2009 with Milwaukee. Cano won it in 2011

I cant watch the home run derby because Chris Berman is the announcer. It's really unbearable.

Come again? The same Stanton that has played only 48 games this year? The same Stanton that is batting .246? The same Stanton that has 8 home runs? The same Stanton that has more strikeouts than hits? Surely you don't mean that Stanton.

Yeah the same Stanton who will knock a ball over 500 feet, the same one who is built for the home run derby. One who is a better option than Cuddyer.

Dominic Brown is a better option then Cuddy. Cuddy is a better option than Stanton right now. Last's year Stanton, better than anybody in this field

Stanton would be a beast in the hr derby and guarantee more viewers on tv cause who else besides regular baseball fans know who Cuddyer is?

I hate Berman. Back back back back back back back back back..gone.

Since when has the derby been about season stats? It's been about putting the best home run hitters against each others.

Dominic Brown definitely deserved it, but at least now we don't have to worry about the Derby messing up his swing for the 2nd half.
