Derek Jeter will miss the Yankees' weekend series against Minnesota with a strained right quadriceps, and New York cannot rule out a return to the disabled list.

After missing the first 91 games of the season because of a broken ankle, Jeter was activated Thursday and went 1-for-4 with an RBI groundout as the designated hitter against Kansas City. He injured the leg in his third at-bat.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday that an MRI showed a Grade 1 strain.

"We'll have to give it some time and see how he responds," Cashman said.

New York is off from Monday to Thursday for the All-Star break, so the Yankees will have a week to decide whether Jeter has to go back on the DL. After the break, they start a series at Boston on July 19.

Like I was saying. Why did they rush him back?

If he hurt his ankle then yeah people could say he returned to early but this is a new injury, this season anyway. No one could have forseen a hammy injury.

It's still a leg injury. They shouldn't have brought him back till after the ASG

If they did that then his first game back after the All Star he could have re-injured his ankle. It's all a guessing game.

This might be Father Time trying to tell Jeter it's time to go home

If he isn't a 98% ballot hof then it will be a travesty.

He's a first ballot HOF no doubt

No doubt about that at all, I'm saying if he isn't a 98% or higher first ballot hof it will be a travesty. You know how some voters won't vote just to keep someone from being unanimous.

Who gives a sh!t whether he has 75% or 95%? The only thing that matters is that he gets in

I'm just simply saying that Jeter is one of those guys who could be a unanimous selection that's all.

Good going Brian Cashman. Rush Jeter up to the big league roster. What a wonderful idea that was.:icon_rolleyes:

Like I said before, how in the world could the Yankees predict or know that Jeter would injure his hamstring one game back?

Honestly, I think it was a panic move by Cashman. There was no telling he would injure anything. I'm probably in the minority but I think Cashman should have waited until after the All Star break to bring up Jeter. Word was he was moving around pretty well in the minors but that's not promised to follow in the big leagues.

With all of the injuries the Yanks have there is no doubt recalling Jeter was a panic move but to say Cashman recalled Jeter too early just because he injured his hamstring doesn't make sense. Now I could understand this if Jeter re-injured his ankle.
