Defensive end Anthony Spencer said the bone bruise on his knee that is keeping him out of practice happened during the conditioning test and is the same kind of thing that sidelined him in the organized team activities, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports.

It’s such a concern that the Dallas Cowboys are considering minor surgery that could keep him out a few weeks.

His agent, Jordan Woy, said a final decision has not been made.

“It’s concerning to me. It’s bothering me right now,†Spencer said. “I really don’t know what else to do.â€

Spencer described the injury as “a contusion-type thing on my tibia/fibula area.â€

This is more than just a bone bruise. Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan said this morning that he talked to some medical experts last night. They told him that bone bruises don't need surgery and there's probably some kind of bone fracture of the knee involved. The best thing for this kind of injury is 6 weeks of doing absolutely nothing. The Cowboys need to monitor this situation VERY closely. If they don't. Spencer could break his leg just like Louisville's Kevin Ware did on national TV during the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Fisher is on Twitter @ FishSports. Scroll down and read the tweet titled "The REAL Issue: Cowboys' Spencer 'Bone Bruise' Could Lead To Serious Injury."

If the Cowboys weren't thinking of getting either Abraham or Seymour after they lost Tyrone Crawford for the season, maybe they will now after the news about Spencer.

If Spencers injury could cut into the season, then I would take a look at Abraham. In fact I would bring them both into the fold. In fact Seymour should have been called the minute we lost Crawford

I heard Stephen Jones yesterday on an interview with a local sports talk show. After they lost Crawford, the plan was to promote someone from within the team. With what's happened to Spencer, forget that.

never heard of having surgery for a bone bruise.i remember when Jason taylor played in Washington he bruised his leg during a game, well low and behold,it was something worse that caused a blood clot in his leg and he had to have emergency surgery 8 hours after the game.

From what I'm hearing, surgery WON'T fix this. You don't ordinarily need surgery for just a bone bruise.

The Cowboys are looking like geniuses for not giving Spencer the big contract he wanted. I guess the old saying is true that the best deal is the deal you DON'T make.
