Vince Young once had the world by the tail, now he is just another cautionary tale.

Per KHOU Channel 11 in Houston, a judge has ordered that some of Young's property be auctioned off in order to satisfy a $1.7 million lockout loan taken out in 2011 that the quarterback defaulted on.

Deputy constables took inventory of furniture, jewelry and artwork in an effort to determine its value so that it can be sold to help pay off the debt, Young is allowed to keep $60,000 in personal property as a part of the order.

It is a sad story for the man who led Texas to a national championship in the 2006 Rose Bowl, then was the third overall pick by the Tennessee Titans that spring, signing a $58 million contract with $26 million guaranteed.

Young went on to become the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2006, but after that, his career tumbled downhill, and he has been out of football since being released by the Buffalo Bills in training camp last year.

It's sad to read about athletes going broke. They make more with one game check than I make in a year or two years. Ridiculous.

it's funny that it's always the ones that make a ton of money that go broke, never the depth/role player guys who fly under the radar on min contracts every year.. (because they usually have a life after football that doesn't consist of broadcasting or nothing).

yes i'm aware it probably happens some and we don't hear about it, but i doubt it happens as often.

Yea, the big money/elite status attracts the sycophants, or known today as one's 'posse', that helps drain the bank pretty fast.
