Someone might be interested in a solid veteran catcher. Seems like there is always some sort of playoff contender that wants a catcher. Might not get a lot for him but something.

As a fellow Phillies fan said earlier today about Ruiz..."Is it possible to have negative trade value?".

 

Any chance Amaro would let Lee go to Texas? Some of the local sports talk hosts would like that to happen.

 

Ruin Tomorrow Jr says the Phils are buyers, not sellers. I hope he's not serious though.

 

The big talk around MLB is a Cuban pitching prospect named Miguel Alberto Gonzales. He's 26, and is expected to make his decision about what team he'll pitch for in the next 7-10 days. He won't come cheap. It's thought that he'll cost between $40 and $60 million.

Might the Phillies get him? I hear that they're one of the teams interested in him.

They could sell if they were realistic about their chances of winning a championship this year and knowing how depleted their farm is for the future. It wouldn't be popular amongst many fans, but it would be the best thing to do for the organization.

 

Yahoo Sports is reporting from an AP source that the Phillies have signed Cuban pitcher Miguel Alberto Gonzalez to a six-year $59 million dollar deal.

Any rumors from Philly that the Phillies might be willing to trade Young back to the Rangers for something? The Rangers need a bat, and they're not interested in other hitters that may be on the market.

 

I haven't heard anything about Young to the Rangers, but he should be very available.

 

I spoke too soon. Jayson Stark just reported that they are talking but not close to a deal yet.

The Tigers Asst. GM was just on WIP, and when asked about their interest in Papelbon, he mentioned how Paps threw his teammates under the bus as an area of locker room concern. Wow. Way to go, Paps.

 

I read today that the Rangers are paying $11 million of his $16 million salary this year.

 

Saw a note from SI saying that Young would waive his no trade clause if he was traded back to Texas.
