Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper was fined Thursday for his racially insensitive comment made at a Kenny Chesney concert, and he will seek outside assistance for help. But his real challenge will be dealing with his teammates and his regret. "I didn't sleep or eat last night," Cooper said Thursday after practice. "I came in underweight and the whole nine yards. It was the toughest night I've had. It was tough, it was tough." Part of Cooper's concern: Teammates who will treat him differently. LeSean McCoy told NFL.com's Albert Breer that he could no longer respect Cooper. Source: NFL.com
Oh god come on he dident even know he was recorded and most white people have atleast used the word once in there life
I am going to buy a Cooper jersey now. Just thought I'd let y'all know that. I know he a former Gator and a Eagle, but this guy is going to be forced into retirement by the end of training camp
Uhhhh....OK. Tell that to the family whose grandfather was hung from a tree by a bunch of redneck hecks who thought blacks were the scourge of society. Just sayin'.
You really went all the way THERE? It was a stupid thing to say. No question. But I'm still baffled at how a black person gets all ready to cast a white person to hell when he says it but then turns around and calls their black friends/family/etc it. Sure, you can call your friends whatever the heck you want but if you are uncomfortable with certain people using a term, stop freaking using it yourself! What's wrong with 'what's up, BUD? BRO? PAL? GUY?' ?
Excellent point and I couldn't agree with you more bigsexyy81. Perfect example....rap music. That's one of the most used words by black artists in their "songs". Imagine how a white kid would be viewed if he was on digital media singing one of those "songs" and sang/spoke that word. Huge double standard. That said, Cooper getting a pass because whites may (or have) used that word is a lame attempt at the reality that the moron lives in a social media world, works in an industry where his peers are 70-75% black and he tees it up on a smartphone in a tirade of hate or intolerance....I dunno. That's where I was going with it, but your comment is spot on at the same time.
or the situation that happened where 3 black dudes and a black chick beat the crap out of a white dude shot him multiple times cut his rod off and made his girlfriend watch the whole time. It goes both ways the reason im saying it shouldent be a big deal is because if any black athlete said i will heck up any white boy here or any cracker here no one would be even close to this stupid butt outrage probably wouldent even be talked about .
I know you're just trying to make a point, but you're wrong. A black athlete getting caught saying that in video in the same type of tone would get destroyed through social media and TV spots. Most of the white players wouldn't care I'm guessing, but that guy would be hecked, too. The silliest part about this whole debacle (so far, at least) is the Eagles excusing Cooper from all related team activities to seek counseling. Really? Really???
