New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter could be headed back to the disabled list pending the results of an MRI of his sore right calf.

Jeter, the Yankees' 39-year-old shortstop who has been unable to sustain a return to every-day duty since being reinstated to the roster on July 11 after two fractures of his left ankle, has been out of the lineup since Friday night's game against the Padres and manager Joe Girardi said he could not rule out Jeter's second trip to the DL in the last three weeks.

"I think it's always a possibility," Girardi said before Sunday's series final against the Padres. "It's not what we want to do. My hope is I get him in the lineup tomorrow. But I wouldn't say its 100 percent no, he wouldn't go on it."

Jeter fractured his left ankle in Game 1 of last year's ALCS against the Tigers and underwent surgery to repair it last October, but suffered another fracture of the same ankle during spring training.

    Ditto

Anyone who says father time hasn't caught up to Jeter is only kidding themselves. They just need to check out his injuries since last October.

Jeter is one of those players that can retire on his own terms imo.
