Cleveland's most interesting cut on Saturday came at the kicker position. Deciding between veteran Shayne Graham and rookie Brandon Bogotay, the Browns chose ... neither. Both specialists were part of a 13-player, late-afternoon housecleaning that brought the Browns to 53 players ahead of the 6 p.m. ET deadline, the team announced. Graham's release was the bigger surprise of the two, but neither player instilled much confidence during the offseason process. While Graham, 35, was 3-for-3 booting field goals in the preseason, he lacks long-distance accuracy. Source: NFL.com
Rolling without a kicker...lol. That's alright, looks like Oakland and the Jets may be rolling without QBs.
More coaches should do this. I remember reading a story that said the statistics actually support this method. I can't stand the over reliance on the kicking game in football. Nothing annoys me more than when a team is stopped and on 4th and 1 the announcers are like, "Well now they're forced to punt." No they're not, shut the heck up. More often than not you'd be better off going for it. Coaches are just scared of going against conventional 'wisdom' and getting fired over it going wrong once.
