NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league could reduce the number of preseason games to three for the 2015 season. The league currently plays four preseason games, with the fourth typically played without starters for most teams. “Do we really need four preseason games anymore to put the best team on the field, to develop our players and to make the evaluations that you need to make? I think the general view of the competition committee at this point is you don’t,†Goodell said Sunday at AT&T Stadium. “So we’re actively exploring taking a preseason game away. “…It’s the number one thing I hear from fans is that we need to address the quality of the preseason. It does not stand up to the quality of what we do in the NFL. On the other hand, I think there are ways we can make it more attractive and we have to make it more of a reality show. Make sure you understand who is playing for a roster spot and look at ways to be able to do that particularly in the way we cut down players. It’s something we’re very focused on. I would expect a change sometime in the next year. I don’t think it’ll be in place for the next preseason, but I think it could be for the following.†Source: Star Telegram SteveRobWhatever's Take: So Goodell is willing to make the preseason three games and NOT add to the regular season schedule? You mean the greedy NFL owners are willing to leave money on the table? There has to be a catch to this somewhere. You know the NFL will want their pound of flesh somewhere.
Yes, I think preseason tickets are overpriced but if I where an NFL owner, there is no way I would agree to something like this.
Roger Goodell is reducing preseason games to expand the playoffs. Goodell just needs to leave crap alone. This is watering down how competitive this league is allowing mid level teams into the playoffs. If one of those teams got into the playoffs, got hot and won the Superbowl are got in by courtesy of the Goodell Rule; handicap playoff spot. He's so worried about player safety but he believes expanding the playoffs is a good idea. Messing up the game that we all know and love. Screw Goodell.
all of this in the name of safety, right commish? if anybody here doubts that the league is concerned about player safety, watch " league of denial".
