Despite missing All-Pro defensive end DeMarcus Ware, the Dallas Cowboys shut down the Philadelphia Eagles' offense in a 17-3 victory. But the Dallas defense, which came into the contest allowing 25.3 ppg, recorded three sacks, intercepted rookie quarterback Matt Barkley three times and limited LeSean McCoy to 55 yards on 18 carries. "We just didn't finish any drives and didn't execute at all," said McCoy. "We just didn't play well. I think this was one of my worst performances since being a rookie." Source: The Sports Network DaBears22's Take: With one QB out and losing another, that's a lot of pressure on Barkley. Looks like the Eagles O-line couldn't generate much against Dallas' D.
Not to take anything away from how well the Cowboys defense played, but Foles missed so many open receivers. Very discouraging effort by the offense. Props to the Cowboys.
None of the Dallas Morning News sportswriters and columnists did. Their predictions were that both teams would score over 30 points a piece.
Not to take anything away? Why the heck not? On multiple occasions, Foles had what seemed like an eternity to throw the ball and get rid of it. Dallas didn't intercept Foles. The only sacks they got were because Foles crumbled under his own personal pressure. He missed open receiver after open receiver. We had countless opportunities in the air to bust this game open. The o-line didn't do crap for Shady, but Foles had time all day. Hatcher deserves a mention. Dude played very well. Him and Dez were the standout Cowboys in my opinion.
I'm not hopping off the Foles bandwagon yet. Crap, last week he played incredible. But the performance yesterday did not inspire any confidence whatsoever.
