That's all based on opinion, imagine Peyton on the 2000s patriots.

Facts are Emmitt Smith. All time leading rusher second in all time TDs only to Jerry Rice.

I also got to see them play

Saw a graphic that showed that Dez's stats after 30 games are better than Calvin's.

Emmit was a great back, but no way best of all-time. That offensive line made life so easy for him.

See I see your points but why does Rice get a pass, he played on some monster Niner teams. And Joe Throwing him the ball.

Greatest WR has the all time TDs record greatest running back is second to him.

Stats aren't the only measuring stick for greatness. You gotta go with what your eyes see. And I saw Barry Sanders heck crap up on terrible teams his entire career. Emmit hecked crap up on a juggernaut. I'm not saying he wasn't great. I just don't think he's the best ever.

Jim Brown was the greatest ever. Led the league in rushing in all but 1 of his seasons. His numbers would be so much bigger if they didn't play 12 and 14 game seasons throughout his career, and if he didn't decide to retire while still being the best in the business.

Eye test is nothing more the opinions one isn't great based on opinions alone.

Back on topic. What all think of Dezs stats compared to Calvin's

He was at one time maybe the best athelete in the usa.he was so good in lacrosse it was evil. I think he and payton are easily the best two,i just think payton was a little bit better.

I think Brown was much better than Payton. Walter only led the league in rushing once. It can not be stated enough that Brown led the league in rushing every year of his career but one. Nobody is close.

Dez is a beast for sure. The stats don't tell the entire story though. Megatron sees more double and triple coverage with a worse QB. It's more difficult for him to put up the numbers.

I hate that Dez can rightfully be brought up in the same sentence though. Ugh.

all of you guys pimping brown must be older than me because i'm not old enough to have seen him play every week. the highlights i have seen are impressive. the stats are impressive. everything i've heard from people older than me say that he was awesome. but, i can't say for sure he was the best of all time because i wasn't alive during his era.

during my football viewing timeframe (1978-2013), i give it to payton.

on a related note, earl campbell was awesome during his short career.

Why Payton? What did you see out of him to put him as the best? He was great for longevity as being good, but he never dominated the position season in and season out.

he had the speed, the moves, and the vision. he had the whole package and he had no o-line or passing game to help at all. for many years, he WAS their offense (imagine a.p. doing what he is doing for another 6 years if the vikings continue to suck).

i loved smith. he was physical. he ran angry. he had good mobility. but he ran through many holes that were as big as walnuts' moms' vag**a (sorry, wallace, that's the only analogy i could come up with at the time).

and i love sanders. his vision and mobility were amazing. however, his decision making at times was lacking and he had WAY too many runs for losses because of that poor decision making.

Payton had every skill you could ever want AND he understood what his team needed on each and every carry.

Barry Sanders #1 ... Would take him all day every day over anyone else.

Lions - Barry Sanders and Megatron. That's some talent there...

No Emmitt? Your anti-Cowboys bias is showing.

Sanders couldn't run between the tackles. Look at old footage of him if you don't believe me.

What do you mean he didnt dominate ??? He most certainly did and he did it on a team that as capt pointed out where he was the only option.

He was always one of the best every single year. Out of the top 5 the only back that has better YPG stats, the stat that matters, was sanders but barry wasnt even close on his blocking abilities and couldnt sniff paytons receiving stats.
