A degree from an elite academic school can make a player a magnet for bullying from teammates in the National Football League, according to a former Harvard University linebacker who spent seven seasons in the NFL. Isaiah Kacyvenski, who last played in the NFL in 2006, said he wasn't surprised by the alleged harassment that led former Stanford University offensive lineman Jonathan Martin to leave the Miami Dolphins. Sad mentality abounds in the NFL.
The guys are paid millions of dollars, but it seems that alot of them never really grow out of their high school mentality. "This guy is smarter than me, I'm gonna make fun of him."
Yep. And here is a list of other things that people catch crap about in every walk of life. Being too short Being too tall Being bald Having gray hair Having a funny accent Walking funny Being skinny Being fat Drinking a lot Smoking weed Being a Bible Thumper Playing too many video games Surfing the computer too much Being a redneck Being a gangster wannabe Being old Being young and inexperienced Being ugly Being a pretty boy Being a tightwad Being unable to handle money Being an butthole Being soft Being lazy Etc, etc I could do this all day. And it still amazes me how up in arms so many people seem to be about someone giving someone else crap. Doesn't everyone do this with friends, family, coworkers? Now, obviously, there is a fine line between friendly ribbing and hate filled insults but in either case, they ARE just words and its not like somebody murdered the guy or someone in his family. Part of me knows that Richie incognito is probably a major douchebag who i would not like to hang around or associate with in any way. However, another part of me is questioning Martins role in all of this and wondering if he is a major cat. I know its not a popular thought around here but it has crossed my mind
Agreed, Cap'n Sign of the times where an opinion will be challenged more on the knee jerk reaction to things that happen without a balanced view or even before all the facts are out. This latest 'outrage' has more sides on it than most even consider or will consider. By the time we connect all the dots, it won't remotely resemble just an Incognito thing & it sure won't warrant the mob mentality push from certain factions.
