Jason Garrett's job is safe. .... Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters Thursday that Garrett will return as coach in 2014, regardless of how the current season plays out, according to NFL Media's Desmond Purnell. Source: NFL.com ICECOLD's Take: So I ask Cowboys fans, what changes do you think need to be made for your team to have success? Is this a good decision, and will the team perform better with Garrett or is there another coach/candidate out there who you'd prefer?
It doesn't matter who the coach is, really. I'm sure Garret is a competent coach but when the owner decides who calls the plays and what defensive scheme to use, what can he do? Garrett has his hands tied. Sent from my Galaxy SIII using Tapatalk 2
If they don't make the playoffs this year, I just wonder how Jerry is going to spin it when he changes mind and fires Jason.
did'nt he also say he would never fire a head coach during the season and fire wade phillips the next week?
frankly, i've been as hard or harder on garrett than anybody.. but i'd really like one more year with him, regardless of how this season plays out. hopefully this is a fact.
Monte Kiffin will retire/resign and be the scapegoat Jerry will look for. The PR will make it sound like Jerry had nothing to do with this and it was all Kiffins idea. Will smell of the Ryan handling. Just my two cents. Plus if this team makes 8-8 Garrett should be canned. That way when he goes somewhere else and succeeds, maybe just maybe Jerry gets his head out of his butt.
I think he said the same thing about Chan Gailey as well. What Jerry says and what Jerry does are two different things. After 24 years, Cowboys fans should know that by now.
Something to think about. Would Jerry have made the announcement yesterday if the Rangers hadn't traded Ian Kinsler to Detroit for Prince Fielder?
