  3. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

For us OL and Safety are in near that high. All our 2014 starters are set, and our stating safeties (Church and Wilcox) are the only only thing on our D that has played reasononably well

What we need more then anything is two cornerstone front 4 players. With Selvie coming back, but can at least afford to phase in a DE, but unless Romo career is over the first two rounds almost have to be DT/DE

  4. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

I wouldn't take any OL higher then the 4th, or any Safety higher then 5th. Our needs at Safety is to replace Heath who is freaking terrible as the 3rd Saftey. Not Church or Wilcox.

On the the our biggest need someone who can take over for Free at RT in 2015. Free has had a very good, and it isn't nessesary to immediately replace him in 2014

  5. LitesOut13

    LitesOut13 Rookie

Well what do you think they take then?? The only thing on offense that needs help is the offensive line. Its misguided to think their line is good or doesnt need help.

Getting Hageman gets you the interior lineman you need to pair with Ware on the outside. LB isnt a terribly huge need as long as Lee can come back healthy. Their defense as a whole though is bad. Like one of the worst. Their safeties arent good and im afraid you are way too high on them.

I mean a quick google search finds a reputable site that agrees with me almost exactly: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...he-biggest-draft-needs-for-every-team/page/10

Now, going CB instead of Safety wouldnt be a bad decision. But getting a top DT, G and safety in the first 3 rounds is amazing. Throw in them getting a solid DE in Reilly and I think this would be a solid draft for the Cowboys

  6. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

I call BS on the line. The line has been opening hole for Murray and giving Romo all. It's the line that Pickett call the best Z line in the NFL. They don't need any immediate help. What's holding this offense back is the play-calling and the fact that Romo isn't a deep threat anymore

I'd take Sutton or Jernigan in the first. Hatcher is leaving and they need a monster 3 Tech to replace him. When Hatcher is getting pressure, the D plays well. I would hope Elay at falls in the second to our pick. That's the perfect Tampa 2 LDE.

The starting have been fine. Wilcox and Church have done well supporting the run and keeping plays in front of them. The unit looks bad because Heath was a disaster while Wilcox was our. This is also Wilcox 2nd year ever playing Safety. He's done his job and as he grows into the position he will become more cerebral and more of a playmaker

You forget or don't realize this is a Tampa 2. With no DL and no front 4 pressure your whole back end is up a creek without a paddle. Their Safety needs are a #3 guy that can fill in if a starter gets hurt

I'd take a LB before a CB. Claiborne has been out most of the year, and is learning Zone. BW Webb..idk. But I'm willing to see if he developes.

  7. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

I'd take a QB before I take a Safety or OL

  8. LitesOut13

    LitesOut13 Rookie

You do realize they nearly lost to a back up QB for the 3rd straight week right?? They need help everywhere. There is no way for you to convince me that Heath and Church are guys that they are extremely happy about and wouldnt draft a replacement for. If you draft a DT to hold up the middle, the DE in Ware, your MLB in Lee, your CB in Claiborne, then Bailey as your S then they have the building blocks needed to fill around them.

The play calling for the offense is what is keeping Romo up. Quick passes and running the ball keep pressure off him. But its also something that doesnt allow routes to develop downfield. Their line doesnt hold up for an entire game. They need inside lineman.

On top of all that, to think they are going to draft DT, DE, LB with their first 3 picks, maybe more on the rest of the defense, is foolish. There are very few teams that will do that in general let alone the Cowboys

  9. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

Happy with Heath lololol. No. Heath is terrible. He's also a back up

The I'll of the Cowboys isn't the secondary it's the line. What do Everett Brown, Nick Hayden, George Selvie, Ceaser Rayford, Kyle Wilber, Drake Neives, Landen Cohen and probably 4 or 5 other guys I'm forgetting have in common? They make up the Cowboys 2013 starting defensive line!

The only player that has been consistent including Ware has been Hatcher and he is a FA.

Right now the need on the DL is too great to seriously consider a Safety in starter round (1-3) especially when you used a 3rd on Wilcox last year and he is head of where he should be right now. I'm a Tampa 2 if you can't get pressure with the front 4, Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott and Leroy Butler will look like crap.

Now I'm not saying we don't need to address the secondary at some point. We do. The DL is just so dire right now and such a critical part of a Tampa 2 defense that putting serious asserts like top draft choices there right now is some what point less unless the DL has been addressed

It's not Romo line that's not letting him get the ball downfield, it's the fact he is losing zip in his arm. He was a very good veritable QB in 2011 when he played for the worst line in his career. The weak link in the OL is Leary who has shown alot of promise but is basicly a rookie. I'd much rather let him developed then ignore the DL

As for LB, I'd be livid if we dropped a 3rd on a LB, but another LB capable of stringing some starts is need due to how prone to injury our starters are. Ernie Simms is easily the worst player on defense and we have need starter reps from him

It just amazes me that you think they will or should go DT, DE, and LB. I mean, we agree for the most part considering I have them taking DT and DE in the first 4 rounds. But you cant just load up on the same thing for the first 4 picks of your draft. They cant just load up defensive lineman. Filling one spot will help the other areas. Having a stud DT in the middle will open things up for their DEs and LBs.

If the draft goes the way I project it, their defense will have a defensive line of Ware, Hageman, and Reilly. Not sure what you dont see in that.

  11. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

I never said they should take a LB in the third round. I wouldn't even take one in the 4th. I posted a thread about our draft needs a couple weeks ago, I didn't even have LB listed

  12. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

For the record, this is how I would go

1st- DT. A prototype Tampa 2 3 Tech. Jernigan and Sutton are the best fits, but there are several that fit. We get Tyrone Crawford back from IR next year and he can fill the 1 Tech

2nd- DE. Who? Hard to say now because players rise and fall so much at DE. Based on current ratings I like Elay or Jeffcoat

3rd- QB. Good year to look at a QB this spot in the draft. Romo is losing some of his zip and his overall skills are eroding, so a guy like Jimmy Garapollo or Tahj Boyd who are both legit prospect s but may need to much time to be first or second rounders would be good here

4th- RT- Free has had a good year, but has trended downwards the second half of the season and will be a FA after 2015. We need his eventual replacement

5th on we need to look at LBs, safety's to replace Heath as the 3rd Safety and OG to groom as depth and potential starters

I guess you just never answered my question about who you would take instead of what I have. You said DT(which is what I have) and then DE in the 2nd and stopped there. If your main complaint is that I have the Cowboys taking 2 other positions before DE, then its whatever. They very well could go DE in the 2nd then OL in the 4th. But as long I have addressed the issue with a solid player, im not sure what the issue is. From reading what you have written, you seem to believe the Cowboys need DL and the rest is depth?? Not only will that not happen, but its a bad way to view it. They are a terrible team. They are lucky to have 8 wins in a terrible division. Their division has a team with the 2nd worst record and a team that started 0-5, and the Giants are still only 2 games back.

They have a ton of issues and a ton of players that need to be replaced. Not just help adding depth to positions.

  14. LitesOut13

    LitesOut13 Rookie

Sorry, you just posted who you would take.

But I still stand by my assessment of your team. They need much much more than just depth everywhere except DL

  15. Jihad Joe

    Jihad Joe Life to Infidels

I'm not saying they aren't bad. But 75% of the NFL is bad. That's the way the NFL is now a team win s 10 games this year, wins 6 next year unless you are the Patriots or Packers. At least we've won 8 games the last 3 year. Pretty much the model of mediocrity.

And your misinterpreting what I'm saying if you think we just need depth. We have one massive need that supercedes them

    We could replace Church.
    Carr
    Carter
    Durant

But given what we have on the DL, and the fact the only player to play above glue factory level is probably gone. Any replacements are probably going to look just as bad

Your probably really frustrated with me right now. This answers the question of why I don't post these anymore lol

Hats off to you sir for having the balls to do what I wont

I guess my point is that if the Cowboys were in a different division, we would be talking about a 4 or 5 win team currently, not 8. They would have a top 10 pick, maybe worse. But since they play 6 games against teams that also are terrible in their division, it ends up masking some of their needs. Just look at their record outside of the NFC East. They are 1-3 vs the AFC West and 1-3 vs the NFC North with both of those wins coming against the worst teams in the division and barely at that.

I think our view on the Cowboys in general differ which makes the draft needs differ. Simple as that

What do you think about us needing a QB

What do you think of Boyd and Garapollo

  20. LitesOut13

    LitesOut13 Rookie

I dont think they need a QB. Romo gets a lock of flack but he is a very solid QB. Also, im pretty sure they signed him to a huge contract prior to this season so it would be pointless to draft a QB right now.

As for the guys mentioned, I like them both. I dont think they should should go prior to the 4th round though. Boyd possibly in the 5th or 6th
