According to Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com, Giants OC Kevin Gilbride is “likely to be fired” by the Giants after the team’s horrendous offensive showing this season.

“There are high-ranking officials in the Giants organization that believe Gilbride will be fired, according to a source with knowledge of the organization’s thinking. And the belief is that unless something surprising occurs in organizational meetings over the next week, the Giants will have a new offensive coordinator next season.”

CEO John Mara intimated today changes were looming for the Giants’ offense, calling it “broken”, saying “we need to fix it.” Mara also stated the team cannot go into next season with the “same personnel”.

The writing is pretty much on the wall for the 62 year-old Gilbride has been the Giants’ OC since 2007. He was the team’s quarterbacks coach from 2004-2006.

The Giants finished 28th in the NFL in total offense while scoring only 294 points this season. Their previous low in the Coughlin era was 303 in 2004, when they went 6-10.

What does that have to do with anything, that was years ago. 2 years removed from a Super Bowl ring and only 2 losing seasons in a decade, that doesnt sound to me like a coach who should be losing his job.

Changes need to be made, no doubt, but old heck Coughlin hasn't coached his way out of a job yet. Crap, going 7-9 this year with the offensive issues they had is really quite an accomplishment.

It's obvious that the players aren't listening to his message.

he deserves another year,if he craps the bed next year,he should be talked into retiring so he can go out with his head held high which is how he deserves to go out.
